Bachelorette party, dry, with pregnant BM

Claudia, on March 20, 2015 at 11:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

MOH/19 yo sister and I were trying to come up with ideas that can include her, my 19yo FSIL, and other bridesmaids who don't drink or party. We came up with a color run or aerial yoga as something a little different, but then on Monday one BM announced she's pregnant with twins!! Smiley laugh

So now the criteria are non-alcoholic (or just not drunken), inactive, and safe and comfortable for her.

I've already vetoed painting but I'm at a loss for other options! :0

How about a spa and lunch or dinner day? That way you can all relax and you can have a drink (or six) if you want.

I LOVE painting pottery, but I can see how it might not be everyone's thing. Spa day? Or old fashioned slumber party with chick flicks and popcorn?

What about a spa day, dinner and movie (even do a movie night at someones place), a comedy club, or a karaoke bar (some restaurants have a karaoke night, which would allow the 19 yo to get into).

Some parties that I went to that you can easily do without drinking- a pool day, waterpark day, or cabin weekend- play games, hang out- bond. I have done all of those and they have been a lot of fun- some drank, some didn't.

I'm not into spa days, personally, but that could work if your group is! Depending on time of year, I think the Washington Post Scavenger Hunt might be coming up, that could be fun (if the pregnant BM is agile enough...she may end up on bed rest later in her pregnancy, seems to be happening to a few I know pregnant with twins)

You could also do something like a winery/picnic day. The people who want to drink, could, those that don't can still enjoy the scenery, some good food and non-a drinks (you can bring soda/water/etc, just not alcohol). I believe some even have grills you can use if you wanted to cook.

Same premise, but you could also do a fancy dinner and then a slumber party...even get a hotel if you wanted. Watch silly movies, eat junk food, play games, etc.

We're getting a hotel room for the night and baking treats and watching movies. (We're also drinking, but you could cut that part out...) It'll be fun, delicious, and not too expensive.

Do what I did... go to the zoo then dinner! lol

I went to the zoo with my sister, my MOH, (the Pandas were in town and I wanted to see them!) and then after we met up with the other bridesmaids for a dinner. Myself and another BM has alcolholic drinks with dinner, but that was our choice. Everyone got whatever food or drinks they wanted.

Museums or art galleries are another option.

What about painting with a twist style places? That way if you wanted to have a glass of wine, you could without pressuring the other gals.

This is something my MOH has asked me what should we do. My niece is one of my BM and she is 15 going on 16. I think a slumber party sounds really nice, or a spa day.

How close to the Canadian Border are you? If you're close enough to cross, depending on the province you only have to be 18 or 19 to drink Smiley smile That would at least solve your under 21 problems.

I agree with spa days or pole dancing, we did that for my girlfriend's stagette and it was a blast.

Oh yes, there is a Painting With a Twist in Ashburn. If you have 10 people, you can do a private party, pick the painting, and bring in drinks (if you go get a 1 day ABC license - $55). They teach you how to paint the picture and it's really fun! They will also come to your house and teach there as well for a travel fee. It's usually $35/person, some are $45/person.

I love spa day, but it seems like you want something more active. What about a gourmet cooking class? Upside, many of them serve wine, so people who wanted to have at least a glass without getting sloppy could. Plus, delicious food at the end.

For my SIL's bachelorette we all rented a nice beach house and took a weekend to relax. We drank a lot as well but it was just as fun sober. Had a pure romance rep come out too and it was a lot of fun! We sent off floating lanterns on the last night and lit up the beach!
