Baby bump in the road!

Elana, on July 10, 2019 at 10:54 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

My fiancé and I set our date out far (2022) that way we have plenty of time to save $$$ but we have just made a life changing decision of wanting to have a baby while we are in our 20's. But we surely want to make sure we are married before that happens. We really don't want to wait until 2022 when we are closer to 30 years old to start a family. Is it strange or wrong to go ahead and get married at a courthouse NOW and just wait to have the ceremony and reception until our actual date?

What do you think?

I think that would be long time between and would be more like a vow renewal.
If starting a family is that urgent to you both why not just have a nice small wedding with your family instead? After a baby you might not be able to save as much as you think you could now and would risk putting it off indefinitely.

    Kelly has great points.
I would just have a smaller courthouse wedding with the families now and plan a vow renewal in the future.

My FSIL has put off her wedding twice due to being pregnant twice. Now they've postponed indefinitely and they'll maybe do a vow renewal.

With that in mind, maybe do a smaller wedding now?

You don't even necessarily need to do a courthouse ceremony. You can do a park or somewhere else and have both the ceremony and a small reception there. If you do it at a non-meal time, you can have a cake and punch reception if it's between lunch and dinner. The guest list is the biggest factor in cost, so you cut the guest list and you can still have something nice for a small budget. It doesn't have to be courthouse or bust if you aren't set on that.

Hey Elana Smiley smile Have you and your FS decide to have a courthouse wedding and vow renewal down the road? Or are you still thinking about what you will do?
