Aviation/travel guest book ideas?

Becca, on March 13, 2019 at 9:34 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

FH and I are getting married this summer and are stuck on what to do for a guest book! We want something that will have a nod towards our theme without being too kitchy. We have thought about doing post cards, a log book, signing a propeller or just having a regular book. Either way, we want it to be something cool!

I think the post cards would be a cute idea. Every one could sign their name, words of wisdom, or even write where they were born and drop them in a mailbox.

The propeller would be good if you have somewhere to hang it in your house.

Maybe find a world globe and let everyone sign it? Pinterest has several cute aviation/travel ideas.

If you want something you can tuck away like a book, how about an atlas? I've seen some beautiful ones people have posted on Pinterest.

Oh that is a cute idea! We are wanting something small that we can stow away but won't be something we totally overlooked.

We're doing postcards of the National Parks where they can fill in a message. They are already going to have our address on them. My mom will be sending them to us during our first year of marriage. We have thought about possibly sending them a return postcard when we visit the National Park they selected, but that would take years. Lol

Congrats! We are both in aviation and have been discussing ideas on how to quietly add our love for all things airplanes into our wedding also. The globe guest book is a great idea and also something you can display in your home, but I've questioned how difficult it might be for more than a few people to sign. I think a propeller would be awesome and would be an incredible conversation piece in your home. How many guests are attending? You might need quite a large propeller, I know there is a company out there that makes things out of scrapped airplane parts (I got us matching luggage tags made from the skin of 757 two Christmas's ago) and I bet they would be able to find a large enough one for y'all. Good luck and Happy Flying!!

That is awesome! Yes he is a pilot for a regional airline and I am a meteorologist so it has been fun. We are having 200 people so I agree that a globe may be too small. I would think that a propeller from something like a super cub or something might work but I will look! We are doing little things like our table numbers being airport codes, we are coming in on an airplane, and we are doing a really cute wooden airplane on our cake as a cake topper.

Y'all are really embracing the aviation theme and I love that!! FH is a regional pilot and I'm mainline FA but we work for competitors and always have, where's the fun without duel flight benefits?? Smiley xd

I'm trying to get him to take airplane engagement photo's but he's not into it and working aviation into the wedding is something he wants to do mildly. Smiley winking

Yes a Super Cub might be large enough but check out these guys too, they do very nice work but might be a little pricey. They are called Motoart studios and have the planetags, FH would probably love the planetag as a random gift. I'm obsessed with mine. I believe they had a DC-3 prop at one point and it was beautifully polished.

Awesome! Thank you so much Amanda. Yes, it helps getting married in an airplane hangar haha. If we didn't, it would be a bit silly. But yes, those flight benefits are a saving grace for us! I highly suggest it. We went out to a frozen lake here in Alaska and took them with the plane on skis. So happy with them! I will check them out. Thanks for the suggestion!

I've been eyeing the custom wood slabs and having them burn a heli and f35 on each side then having the guests just sign the wood. Etsy has quite a selection and they also add the typical names and date on there.
