Average cost of booking a venue?

NoCalBride27, on March 29, 2014 at 12:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 35

I feel like we can't start to plan anything else without knowing how much we can or what is generally appropriate to spend on a venue. I know that it is probably going to be our biggest cost, but what is average these days?

Right now we have a budget of 10,000 and are thinking 100-150 guests.

Any help at all is appreciated!

Mine is costing $3000 (we get our $1000 deposit back if no damage). However, they only provide table linens, chairs, tables, etc. We had to find our caterer, florist, DOC, photographer, DJ, rental company for overlays and linen napkins, etc.

It's hard to say, what kind of venue are you looking for and where do you live. If you think outside the box, sometimes things are cheaper (or even free). My venue is $300, it's a local B&B but it doesn't include anything extra, so there's that.

My venue doesn't have a rental fee. they only have the pp catering costs and any add ons. so depending on what you eat and how many people

i would start with google and search venues near (your city, your state)

That depends on how inclusive of a venue you want and where you're located. Mine is going to be just under $1000. They provide a DOC, will set up and take down everything, provide linens, tablecloths, and chairs, and will handle any rentals we require.

It really depends. My ceremony reception is $850 for 3.5 hours. That includes use of the bridal suite an hour before the ceremony, chairs, arch, set-up, and tear down. My reception venue is $2900 and includes everything.

My venue is all encompassing, ceremony, reception, tables, white linens, chairs, appies, dinner, wine, dessert, for 75. All for $8,820, and it is absolute drop dead gorgeous to boot ❤

Unfortunately though it really depends in where you are and what you want in a venue, is it everything? Just the reception? Did you want a caterer or to hire your own? There are all options that change the price drastically.

Depends SO much on location and what is included. I'm in Northern VA and went a bit west and paid $3000 for ceremony/reception and $60/head. Ended up about $9000 total for 86 guests (including vendors we fed).

New York - Our ceremony and reception are being held at the same location (a museum). All together it was roughly $4000 + tax, which includes choice of ceremony site (from about six different options), choice of reception site (between two options), tables, chairs, linens, set up and clean up, and full day access for guests to the museum.

Samantha - DATE TWIN! I FINALLY HAVE A DATE TWIN!

    Haha. (:

When we were going for a traditional venue, it was $4,300 for space, four hours, tables, chairs, linens, stereo system, buffet meal, s'mores bar and set up and take down.

As a rule of thumb, the venue, food, and drinks combined shouldn't cost more than 42% of your total budget, so try and put together a reception in the $4200 dollar range or below. Sometimes renting out an opulent space for the wedding is the more economical option, since you don't have to spend as much on decorating.

The rest of the money should go towards music, transportation, photography, dresses, formal-ware, invitation, etc; the little touches that make weddings special.

It really does depend where you're looking. Sometimes you can get a really good deal on pavillion rentals at parks. Sometimes museum rentals are cheap. Like everyone else says, just do a google search. That's probably your best bet.

My ceremony and reception venue is 4,000 because we booked off season. (Sine the fist weekend of May is in the actual week of April)

Now food is not included in this price with my venue but what does include is chairs, linens, tables, china, they set up, they clean up and tear down, they have staff to do everything all we do is show up so to my family that was a steal so we wouldn't have to rent anything or over buy.

We booked for a Saturday in typical wedding season so our ceremony and reception venue was $6400 for 5 hours. The site includes all of the chairs/tables, and indoor & outdoor bar, and a full kitchen area for the caterer. Our food and drink price is separate through another company (and unfortunately is way over that 42% rule that TheWeddingMile referred to).

Our vow renewal is in Northern New Jersey. There is no venue rental fee since it's a hotel. We're paying $120 per person for our package (our guest count is currently 74 including us) and that includes the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, open bar, centerpeices, tax, service charge and one night comp bridal suite. The only extras we're paying for are the overlays for the tables and the additional two nights we're staying at the hotel.

Ours is costing us roughly 3500. We are doing ceremony and reception there. Set up and take down included. Two entree buffet is included with mid grade 6 hour open bar. All the linens, dinnerware, and champagne toast for the head table and day of coordinator. It breaks down to roughly 30 a person.

I can't believe all these LOW prices I'm seeing for this post. Looks like mine is one of the highest, I guess due to living in NY. I'm looking at the Highland in Garrison, NY. Fri or sun peak season for 75 guests with tax, site fee, 21% service charge, = $13,102 or breaking down to $174pp. Sat is more. So if I go with them, I'll have to do off peak $99pp and with everything included final price is $147pp. I hate those taxes and service charges and site fees but venue Gorgeous and I just went today with FH and he liked it too, so we'll see what happens. Other venues I seen in my area were starting at $120 - $220pp.
