August Wedding Colors

Misty, on January 31, 2017 at 1:07 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 22

Ladies!!! What colors are y'all going with and what do you think for an August wedding?

I thought of burgundy and tan because we are doing a rustic wedding at a Barn Venue. I really love all the burlap. Should I even make that a color or choose 2 others and accent with burlap?

We're having our reception at a barn in early September (which is very much still summer here in the desert). Our colors are dusty blue and slate grey with some variations of greyish blue mixed in and coral as a subtle accent. I think burgundy is a beautiful color but feels a little more fall/winter-y to me? That's just my opinion though.

I'm getting married at a ranch and at first those were the exact same colors/theme that I was going to do. I had so many ideas on pinterest and it wasn't until I went to a barn wedding with the exact same theme/ colors that I changed my mind. All the ideas I had pinned on Pinterest were at that wedding and quite frankly I hated it. It was almost to pinteresty and wasn't unique anymore. I then changed my wedding to colors and theme. I'm using bright colors in my flowers and my bridesmaids will all wear a bright shade of pink. I'm going for Mexican Fiesta theme now. I just wanted something fun and festive, and I love tequila! Lol Don't get me wrong, burgundy and burlap is beautiful, just make sure you add your own special touch to it to make it your own. With barn weddings being so popular now, its easy for your wedding to lack uniqueness. When I was still doing my country/rustic theme, I was going to use different shades of pink and red as accents but burgundy and gold were going to be my main colors. Best of luck Smiley smile

Look at paint color palettes. Seriously. It will give you a good idea of colors that go well together. ETA - & the best place to look for them is Pinterest.

We originally planned for October and wanted dark purple and gray (plum and charcoal). Now we're booked for August and kept the charcoal but changed the purple to aubergine or eggplant depending on the designer you look at

Ladies, please be careful with light colors. Make sure you look at other pictures your photographer has taken, especially light colors. I use to work in a bridal shop and I've seen pictures where the light colors wash out and it looks almost white.

My girls are wearing Mercury (a medium-dark gray from DB) and we think groomsmen are wearing charcoal. Doing gold on the tables and white/green/blush floral arrangements. I really wanted neutral colors instead of traditional 'wedding colors'

We are doing eggplant, lavender, fuschia, lighter pink, and peach. So basically purples, pinks, and oranges.

My venue is outdoor at a ranch, with Mt Rainier close in the background. I originally wanted bright colors like pink, lime green, orange and yellow. But since my dress ended up being ivory lace, I switched to baby pink and charcoal. Lighter colors go better with my dress color. More of a romantic feel.

Look at your venue and find colors that match the scenery. Or your dress like I did lol
