We're on the fence. When I spoke to them they said they would only allow couples to postpone or cancel a month before without penalties and returning all deposits. If we are a month out and our governor says social distancing is still a must, then they will allows us to either postpone or cancel and give us all our money back. I just don't want to wait around knowing what could happen. All of my vendors have been amazing, and are willing to move the date without charging me anything.

Hey Kenzie! I agree! I think we talked on another thread. I am having the same issue with my VA venue. I have emailed and called and they will not give me a straight answer as to when we can discuss rescheduling. Contract language says that they have to cancel on us for a full refund or postponement. If we formally make the call, we will need to pay 3k for a postponement or lose all money if we cancel. It is such a stressful situation and they are only adding fuel to the fire. I'm kind of frozen in the planning at this point. Not sure whether to order change the dates, invites, or whatever else. I'm currently in talks with another venue to try to reschedule to 2021 but can't fully pull the trigger until we find out what is going to happen with our original venue.

Hope that your venue communicates with you soon!

Exactly same situation. Honestly I’m this area there is no way a wedding in Virginia or Maryland will be doable by August. I contacted the governors office I was so frustrated. It’s not doing anyone any good to wait around. I was going to postpone with them but after all this I found a new venue. But like you can’t do anything until o can get my money back. Right now if I cancel I lose my deposit and have to pay 50% of what they would have made, which is so much. I plan on emailing my venue weekly until something is done. I decided I’m not sending invitations out, it’s $800 I’m not willing to spend knowing this wedding will not happen. Did your venue give you any idea when they would know?

Hogan is speaking at 3:00pm today so I’m hoping something will be said. But DC, Virginia and Maryland are all working closely so I think they’ll have similar reopening schedules.
I hope everything works out for you as well.

Hi everyone.. I moved mine. Fortunately the chapel only wants $100 for the 3rd date change. Ugh. But now the restaurant where I am holding my 'dinner' (it's not a traditional reception) wants more money down - but it's like $375... So, it will cost me $500 to move it, but I saved the $675 on the deposit for the photographer (with no change). Our officiant didn't ask for money either. So... I think I am ahead. Maybe.... Sigh. I need to make a spreadsheet. Gulp.

Hi Kenzie! When I last spoke to my venue, the manager kept referring to May 1st and May 15th. He said the venue is having a meeting on the 1st and he will ask if money can be refunded if I need to decrease my guest lift from 150 to 50. He seems to think that we will know if the stay at home order will be lifted on May 15 (he seems to think it will be lifted on that date...and I think we all know that it will not). I am hoping Gov. Northam of VA will make some announcements with some clear dates so that I can figure out my plan since the venue is "following government orders."

I don't think I'm going to send invites either. It'll be a waste of money should the event not happen and I am really nervous to send them and then have to contact everyone and say it's not on. Much easier to send a change the date card. I'm trying to remain positive and see the bright side...but it's hard. The only thing I am coming up with is that we will get to plan a wedding twice and maybe I'll buy another wedding dress. But the whole thing is very devastating and gut wrenching. Hope it all works out for you! Can't wait to hear what Hogan will say today.

Hopefully you will get the information at that time. My venue is closed currently, and will be reopening as of now on the 15th. Would you be willing to decrease your guest list? For me I would hate having to decrease my guests from 200 down to 50. How do you even make that call? It would be horrible! Isn't Virginia's until June 10th? I've been monitoring the statistics and they aren't good around our area. Congress was supposed to meet in DC next week and they no longer will because cases in our region keep rising.

My venue is following the same "following government orders." Which lets be real, we live in such a populous area where if we lift restrictions and allow large weddings across the states, we are just asking for cases to spike.

I agree..I spend the past few weeks remaining positive, but have come to the conclusion I need to be realistic. On the bright side I like the new venue I found more, lol. I guess in a way if we both reschedule we have more time and can tweak things from our original wedding. But agreed, invitations are so expensive and if I was confident a wedding was happening I would do it. But to me in 3 months I just don't see it happening. My fiance's family is also from NJ/NY and they have been so hard hit, they have made it clear they do not feel comfortable being at a wedding in August.

I just wish his announcement was earlier! I just need a clear announcement. Plus can they really have large weddings with social distancing? I know my venue can't fit 200 people spacing them out 6 feet.

Not that I want either of us to be dealing with this, but I am glad it's not just my venue being difficult.

I read an etiquette article that said that guests deserve 3 months notice. Like what vendor is allowing that? Mine is, but they are the exception. This is all bonkers making.

Yeah, same! It is somewhat comforting to know that my venue isn't the only one being difficult. They told me their safety plan is to put tables 6 feet apart and decrease the amount of people at each table. As for dancing, they told me the venue is so large that everyone could dance in different corners..... -__- seriously.......like, seriously!!

If every wedding planned for summer in our area were to be allowed, I think it would promote the spread...Would love to be wrong but have to be realistic.

WHAT? I hope they were not being serious. I would honestly save that message and file a complaint. How is that acceptable? Is your venue really that big where logistically that could work? I still can't believe they said that to you, I would have flipped out. Especially, since that is not how you envision your wedding. Oh absolutely, when I read these posts it's hard because people are still holding out hope but at this point holding out hope won't make it happen. After talking to our families it made me realize its time to be realistic about the situation.

Not in California! No wedding for several months as it is in "stage 3" of our reopening plan which also includes, salons, churches, gyms, etc. sucks! I need my Brazilian wax so bad 😂 At least I'm not going anywhere or people will think I have crabs.. damn itchy long hair LMAO

We just got an update my county and city are staying in lockdown until the phase 1 criteria are met. So, there's that. However, our micro-wedding is in a different county and city - though same state. And the state is opening.

So, my state, city, and county aren't in sync. My head hurts.
