August 2020 Brides! Canceling?

Ashlea, on March 22, 2020 at 12:06 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 11

Hey, y'all! August 29th, 2020 bride here!

With all the news of COVID-19, I am starting to grow more concerned about whether or not we should reschedule our wedding.

I feel like a lot can change in 5 months, but it seems like this thing is just getting started and there has been a lot of speculation about this lasting through summer.

We planned to do my bachelorette party and bridal shower both in June, and right now that isn't looking promising either.

Just wondering if any August brides have started to reschedule or what your plans are?

Thanks, ladies!

August 29 wedding here. I am not cancelling anything. My bridal shower was April and we pushed out to June. Hopefully everything is good by then. Has anyone said you should cancel or postpone?

Hi! We moved our 4/3/20 wedding to August. So I am lifting this up in prayer that we, August brides, will have our wedding. I can not postpone a wedding for the 2nd time. So let’s continue to have faith and prayer. 30 days at a time! 🙏🏽

Hi Ashlea! It's totally fair to feel stressed and uncertain. Right now there are a lot of other couples who are also in "wait and see" mode for a little while! Smiley heart

We've started gathering resources from WeddingWire in our COVID-19 Wedding Support Central, and you can also connect with other August couples facing the same questions in this discussion:

Ours is August 28th with no plan to postpone yet. I’m holding out until as late as I can! Fingers crossed that postponing isn’t in the cards. I’m already postponing my shower which doesn’t look like it will happen in June at this point. If I have to postpone my mid July bach I will be quite nervous for our wedding happing as scheduled.

I'm in August too. When do you plan on sending out your invites?

We’re having a really small wedding and with save the dates out I likely won’t send invites until mid July

We're having ours on August 1 as well. Planning it as normal. I just emailed our venue requesting information, if they have it, on the max number of people we can have and social distancing guidelines. Invites will go out very, very soon. We're getting married no matter what, even if we don't have a reception right away. The Sacrament is what matters to us anyways. Smiley smile

We are also scheduled for August 28th in California and with no news on what things will look like for weddings I am struggling with spending money on invites to have to change them. Most of our guests are from out of town so there is a need for more advance notice and I would like to know how many people we are looking at notifying if there are cuts in the guest amount allowed. Has anyone else in California gotten any guidance from their venues?

We are scheduled for September 27th in Northern California (Sonoma area). I emailed my venue last Saturday and the Director said they haven't received any word regarding restrictions and she'll let us know when she does. It's frustrating not knowing what the restrictions will look like - I'm in your boat, still waiting to order invitations until we hear if we'll have to scale back our guest count, wear mask, if dancing is prohibited, etc. Part of me just wants to order the invitations and move forward with the wedding come what may but the other part of me can't justify us spending thousands of dollars to have a socially distanced wedding with no restrictions. Holding out hope our venue will work with whatever restrictions are set in place... Hopefully we'll hear by the end of the month at least what those will be

We are scheduled for the same day and also in California. Our venue says if there are restrictions still by June 25th, we can postpone.
