Assigned tables vs assigned seats

Are you guys doing (or did) tables and assigned seats? Or just assign tables? I was doing a rough draft last night assigning seats and tables and I thought I was going to loose my mind. Are you guys doing (or did) tables and assigned seats? Or just assign tables? I was doing a rough draft last night assigning seats and tables and I thought I was going to loose my mind. Obviously, I won't make the actual chart until after RSVP's come in but I was just playing around with it. Now I am wondering should I assign seats or just assign tables? Does it matter?

We're just assigning tables. Guests can choose how to arrange themselves at each table. Especially since it's mostly families everyone knows all others at the table. We got lucky that way.

We are having banquet tables and our meal is also buffet. So just assigning tables should probably work. I know just doing it roughly last night I got a migraine doing seats and all. The only thing I ran into last night was running out of seats for families sitting together. I would lack 1 or 2 seats having enough for some.

Definitely tables. I think the assigned seat scenario would just be a lot of hassle, only for people to swap out seats on their own anyway. Lol

I have rarely ever seen actual assigned seats. It's is always assigned tables, which is perfectly fine. And these are weddings with plated meals - you don't HAVE to assign specific seats just because the meal is plated. Escort cards can be coded to meal selection and it doesn't matter which seat they are actually sitting in at the table.

The exception would one or two long, rectangular, banquet tables. In that situation assigning seats makes sense.

We did assigned tables. Our reception was buffet style so there was no concern about meals going to the wrong place, and our guests seemed pretty comfortable with it.

I'd just do assigned tables! Assigned seats is a bit much

We're just doing assigned tables. I've never been to a wedding with assigned seats.
