Assigned seats or tables?

Are you planning on assigning seats or just tables? Also do you prefer round or rectangular tables? What are some of your ideas on table settings and decorations?

I prefer round, assigned tables. Guests should be able to sit at whichever seat they wish and rectangular tables made it hard to talk to everyone.

We just went to a wedding with only assigned tables, and it was quite fun, although there was a bit of confusion at first - everyone was looking for name tags and there weren't any!

I believe our venue requires place names though, so we are doing them. We're having super long tables (30-40 people each) and it's actually been really good - rather than having to find exactly 10 people who know each other and fit together well, all we need is one chatty person that knows the person next to them to blend one group into another.

We are having cookies with people's names as both our favour and our place names.

We’re doing a long table down the center for the wedding party and round tables on either side. I’m planning on using cards with guests’ names and table numbers.

Nope. Guests can sit wherever they want. I'm not stressing myself about seating charts.
