Assigned Seating for Buffet?

#mattsmrs18, on May 5, 2016 at 10:24 AM

Is it appropriate to assign my guest seats for a buffet lunch wedding? The wedding itself is a 115 person semi-formal Sunday lunch wedding and while I love the idea of themed tables, I don't want to be restrictive on my guests.

I'm having a formal wedding in a ballroom for 100 guests at 8 o clock at night and we will have both assigned tables and a buffet. Let the people eat as much as they want of what they want.

AMEN @JoRocka. Plated dinner would have ended in FH complaining he didn't get enough food ( specifically meat) and whining about being hungry all night. The food will taste just as good if he puts his food on his own plate.

We are also doing a "tacky" buffet and will be doing assigned tables. There is no difference between buffet and plated...a guest needs to know where to sit.

Definitely assign tables. That many people will make everything easier.

I'm doing assigned tables. I know I've been to weddings where I just pick a seat and I'm never a fan - it feels awkward to me. I'm always worried no one else will sit at our table because they don't know us, haha.

I'm doing Sunday lunch wedding too!! Only mine is only 40, and we have seating for 60, so there's room for empty seats.

I'd assign tables with that many... You don't want large parties split up because there wasn't enough chairs left for them or anything!

Always do a seating chart, and make sure you leave an empty chair for Karen. Kinda like at Passover, for Elijah.

We are doing assigned tables. Some of our guests have 6 people together so we didn't want them not being able to sit together. Buffets are fine for any budget. If it come to properly hosting with a buffet or nothing at all because some ASSume it's not acceptable I think everyone knows what choice would be made.
