Asking String Quartet to learn a song for the wedding

If you give them ample notice to practice, they should perform it just as well as their other pieces.

They're professionals. As long as you're not springing this on them last minute, they should be fine.

I wouldn’t worry about the playing quality. I’m a violinist and not all songs sound as good with quartet because they don’t have much of a melody. As long as your song has a melody and isn’t just a drum beat with only a couple notes, it should be fine.

Do you think that two months is enough time?

Mine made it clear that they can do it no problem so long as we got them piano sheet music a month before. I’d ask them if it’s something they can do. I’m not worried about them not sounding as good, considering they are professionals. I trust that if they say they can do it, they can.

It really depends on the group. How much experience they have, the difficulty level of the song you're asking for, how much time they have to practice between now and then. I would just reach out to them directly and ask if it's doable.
