Asking friends to be bridesmaids??

Paige , on November 29, 2017 at 11:23 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 29

My friends I'm sure already know they're going to be in my wedding but I didn't know if I should do it a cute way or just say it lol. Just wondering how you guys asked your friends to be your bridesmaids??

I bought them a small gift, and a simple card asking them.

Group txt sayin "yall already know, no need to ask you to be my bridesmaids, just be ready lol" also because neither of us really had to ask our party we're going to host a dinner at our house for all the bridesmaids and groomsmen as our official "request" of them.

    Hope this helps.

I sent them all Greetabls too. Awesome service. You get to personalize each card/message and choose the theme of the box and little gift. Not expensive either. Some expected it some did not so I know it was a cute little surprise, they enjoyed it but it wasn't over the top.

You shouldn't be picking your bridal party for at least a year.

I drew two cards for the sake of not selling my soul to Pinterest, one for the maid of honor, and another for four of my sisters (I was on a time crunch). They were unique and personal and funny. For my sister in law and future niece, I asked them over FaceTime when they were together for Thanksgiving pretty simply. I told them I loved them and would love it if they would be my bridesmaids, and they shrieked, so that was good. Just make it simple and personal! You don't need bells and whistles!

I just called the ladies. I know a lot of people say to wait until it is closer to the date, but personally I think it is best to ask with plenty of advanced notice. I see your wedding date is in Feb. 2019, and that's just a little over a year away. A lot of jobs require their employees to submit their vacation choices a year in advance or else there will be no guarantee of obtaining said vacation time. Plus if you find some bridesmaids dresses you like, your ladies have the option to wait until there is a sale instead of having to buy at full price because they need it by a certain approaching date. They'll appreciate any effort you make to make sure they save some cash and hassle too.

I got "will you be my bridesmaid?" cards telling each of them how they make me better (I'm a writer, I can't help myself) and bought them bridesmaid shirts. But in the last year, I've been asked to be a bridesmaid twice and they both just texted me.

I just found cute blank cards at a local shop and included a poem I found on line. They each liked it.

When I was a BM, the bride came over with a bottle of wine with a postit on it that said 'will you be my bridesmaid?' It was fun but very low pressure which is nice in case people have financial issues going on.

My sis and I both just sent cards that said "Will you be my BM/MOH?" They also included details about the wedding so each girl knew exactly what they were getting into. (Date, location, etc.) It also included a heart-felt note for each person explaining how much they meant to us. I definitely think keeping it simple is best. Here's what my sis just sent me.

Agreed with PPs. Definitely wait to ask. You have a looooooong time.

I gave each one a small gift and personalized card. I gave them in person to all but one who lived out of state. There is no requirement to give a gift, but I see the cards on display at some of the girls houses still to this day. It's a fun way to get them excited about your wedding! I probably asked too early (22 months in advance) but it all worked out.
