Sounds like it may look cheap, depending on the color. Do you have a photo?

Try it out to see if you like the look. I don't have high hopes.

@Stamicalynn - I would change my centerpieces to non- floral or very low floral and save the real flowers for the bouquets. If you want ideas for non-floral centerpieces tell us about your wedding.

Spray painted fake flowers will end up in the trash too. Give the florist your budget and see what they can do with it.

Look online at Sams and Costco. Fiftyflowers.com. All have fresh flowers very reasonably priced. Spray painted cheap flowers will be horrendous.

Look up wedideas on Etsy. They have gorgeous fake flower arrangements that can assist in saving money.

You could do tablescapes with small bottles and vases with a single flower in each.

Lanterns are great and you can use minimal flowers. If you have a Five Below near you, they recently had $5 lanterns. The fake berries at the dollar store actually look great.

Alternatively, you could use greens, candles and no flowers at all.

Hobby lobby has half off all flower stems and I'm pretty sure today is the last day of their sale! I just bought a TON of flowers from there! And they have quite a few cheaper flowers (normally $1.50 or so) that you can get for the same price or cheaper

I would test it out on one before buying a bunch of them. Also try hobby lobby and Michaels if you have them. I am using fake flowers and almost all fake flowers will look fake. It's a matter of preference and I personally do not care that much about the flowers.

I used fake flowers but not spray painted... If you want cheaper than real, try some other stores which might have your colors. I did all our bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages for $300. No flowers anywhere as decor, we're using candlesticks and glass pumpkins instead
