Are you wearing your veil when the ceremony is over to take pictures? When will you remove it?

Elissa, on May 9, 2014 at 8:44 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25

Okay so it's a MUST to wear the veil during the ceremony. At least to ME, If I really want to look like a bride that day. But when the ceremony is over and I have to take pictures with family and then with my fiance at a park or somewhere nice, do I still have to wear the veil? I don't know if the pictures will look better with or without the veil. It will be nice to wear it but it will also cover the hairstyle and it won't show that much. I really want my face to show in the pictures too. Should I take the pictures with or without it? Also, if I take it off, I won't have it anymore and I think it will be nice to have my veil on during the first dance. Or should I not??? I'm so sorry but I'm really confused with the veil. When are you removing your veil? I need some advice please.

There are some pictures I want my veil in like it flowing in the wind. I will wear it for some but then remove it. I can't really wear it for the first dance because it's so long.

I don't see anything wrong with taking it off for some pictures then putting it on for others then taking it off for the reception then putting it on for the first dance. As long as you have someone to help you and it doesn't mess up your hair then wear it when you want and take it off when you don't want it.

Me I will probably take it off once the reception gets going.

I wore mine the whole night, pics came out fantastic! It's up to you how you want it to look. Mine has the beaded flower design around the edge that matches my dress so I felt like it was part of it, plus I don't ever imagine being able to wear one for any other occasion so I took full advantage of it Smiley smile whatever you're comfortable is what you should go with, maybe keep on some pictures , but not others. And also take into consideration if it will bother you or not. Mine was medium length, it went past my shoulders so it stayed back most of the night. You don't want it to be bugging you. It might help to tell your MOH so she can help you put it on/take it off during the events you choose.

I'm wearing mine for the ceremony and some of the pics. I just did my bridals and I took some with and some without. My veil was very easy to take out and put back in. I want the back of my dress to be seen cause it's gorgeous and the veil covers it, so I'm not wearing it all night.

I'm not wearing it during our first look. I'm also not wearing it during family photos or bridal party photos. I'm wearing it for the ceremony and for some of the bride and groom photos but not all. Probably just the ones we take after the ceremony.

I will wear it during the ceremony and for some photos. I think it's fine to wear it for some and remove it for the rest. Mine is also long so wearing it for the first dance is not really an option.

I'm oddly obsessed with veils. I have 3 veils. All handmade by FMIL with lace and swarovski crystals. BUT veil 1 is a super long cathedral veil for the ceremony 2.) Is a replica of 1 but waltz length (to my knees) for the reception. And #3 was just made with the left over fabric. It comes to my chin and is for the bachelorette party Smiley smile

Interesting! the history of the veil is actually religious if you did not know. It is symbolized by the bride covering herself with the veil before she is wed and it is lifted off of her after the vows (traditionally when the groom lifts it to kiss her). Its religious because it symbolizes her purity and veiling her body before she is married. And when the vows are said she can lift the veil (or "uncover" her body) and reveal it to her husband. It basically symbolizes giving her body to her husband as a gift of love (and vice versa of course). So as you can assume this tradition has died out, or at least the meaning of it, so its really up to you when you want to take it off. I have a cathedral veil (which symbolizes this metaphor very well because it covers my entire body). and of course i will take it off after the ceremony. Ill take pictures with it but at the reception its going off. Idk if this helped-just thought i'd give you some insight Smiley smile

I'm not really having dancing at the wedding and I like the look of the veil so as of now I'm thinking of keeping it on the whole day. The only thing Im worried about is if I get a long veil it might be annoying, but I guess once I actually get a veil the exact details can be worked out.

My veil is elbow length and I'm planning to take it off right before or after dinner. Long enough to do our photos during cocktail hour and maybe some right after dinner as the sun will be setting during that time. But it will definetly be off before we do our introduction/first dance! I absolutely love my veil and would wear it all night, but I don't feel comfortable doing so while dancing, etc.
