"Equally yoked" is a Christian community phrase that can be used to justify marriage. I was raised to understand the phrase as when two people share the same religious views. However, as I got older and branched outside of my immediate Christian community I learned that some people view "equally yoked" as sharing the same political views, financial status, child-rearing perspective, and even physical attractiveness.
