Favors are absolutely not required. And many guests leave them behind.

In general, edible favors are better received than trinkets.

If there is something really unique and special to you and your FS, you might be more inclined to have favors. But if there is nothing that just screams "us" to you, you are certainly not obligated to have them. Again, you may find many guests leave them at the end of the night unless it is something very tasty or really unique.

I decided not to get any favors but my mom insisted “I need them” so I’m doing hand sanitizers. I feel like after this pandemic hand sanitizers are not going anywhere anytime soon lol

Not required! We never grab a favor and think most of them are kind of pointless.

We did small chocolates and a small organza bag filled of salt water taffy (we had a summer coastal theme). If you’d like to do favors, Oriental Trading has candies and other cute favors that are customizable and great price! ❤️

People don't take favors even when they are edible. Save your money for what you and guests really care about, good food, free drinks, good dj, good photos.

I went to a wedding with a candy table years before Covid that no one touched and they couldn't get anyone to take it home either.

Favors are optional! I love receiving edible favors, but non-edible ones are usually left behind or thrown in the trash later.

Totally optional! My fiancé’s family is from Pittsburgh so we’re having a ‘cookie table’ since that’s a tradition for that side of the family and I’m just using cute personalized bags to take home cookies in as our ‘favors’.

If I didn’t have the cookie table I wouldn’t have anything considered a favor, I’m not doing welcome bags either, personally I just feel like they’re unnecessary and only add the list of things I need to do/buy - and no one is going to remember them. I really don’t think anyone (worth having at your wedding) is going to be peeved that they didn’t get some trinket or a candy. They came to see someone they care about get married and celebrate with them 💕

I think it's a hit or miss with favors. My sisters wedding was little boxes filled with hershey kisses, so much was left over from no one taking them. We are doing beer koozies for favors, but my FH said to leave out our names and date on the koozie, because no one wants to keep them with all that on them. So they just have funny saying on them "booze, food, and bad dance moves" I know we may have a bunch left over, but I'll find a way to get rid of them.

Favors are totally optional. We’re having chocolate covered toffee. There’s a local baker that I’m getting it from- $90 for 10 pounds.

Totally optional! If you really want to offer something, make it edible. Most favors are left behind.

I’m currently making photo tile coasters for each of our guests. I’ve sourced a photo of each of our guests with the bride/groom (or both!) and that will be their favor. Hopefully a nice talking point and a little sentimental too Are we required to have favors for our wedding guests? 2

Definitely not required. Most guests don't care about favors and they are left behind at the end of the night.

I'm so glad it isn't just me. I have many friends who got mad at me because I said "I don't want shot glasses with your names and wedding dates on them in my cupboard..." Unless it's on a removable tag, or a consumable that I will ultimately throw away (like a candy box), this is the number one way to guarantee I won't take it home!
