Are those bathroom baskets necessary?

Samantha , on September 9, 2017 at 12:53 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 30

I'm just watching my money fly away and I just feel like no one uses that stuff....

Nah, sheer indulgence. You definitely don't need them. People successfully use the toilet at every other kind of party without being given a free chapstick or dental floss.

I think that they are nice but not necessary. I'm probably not going to be doing them.

I'm so glad you posted this.... I feel like my money is flying away faster with all these little last minute things than it was with the large monthly vendor payments. It's a little ridiculous...

I'm glad this is one of those things I can skip and not feel too bad about. ^_^

I feel pinterest floods us with lavish, extravagant, and over the top wedding ideas and the Internet makes us all feel like we should hold ourselves to these. but they are not standards or guidelines. my bathroom for the wedding is also the showers for campers at the lodge. and I just have to accept it. I can't imagine having a basket, cause what if the campers help themselves?!

No. Look in a woman's pocketbook. Even her tiny evening bag has Advil, tampax, a mini can of hair spray, her lipstick and eyeliner, and a brush. She doesn't need to walk into a bathroom and use publicly provided antiperspirant, a panty liner, a nail file or nail clippers, a safety pin, crazy glue, clear nail polish, a Kleenex, an antacid, a needle and thread, a bandaid (the venue manager should have a first aid kit on hand), a toothbrush, toothpaste, mouth wash, breath spray, denture cream, or hand sanitizer. It's just another waste of money, as are favors. You don't need them either. A fabulous evening of cocktails, dinner, dessert, entertainment, socializing, and dancing is everything you need to provide-- no little baskets or take-aways (because they'll end up being throw-aways, so save your money).,

I was thinking about it, but quickly realized it was a waste of our money

I think in general, the things that are necessary are the things you would provide if hosting a nice dinner party. Food, alcohol and music are all necessary. Bathroom baskets are not.

It's nice but not expected. Probably have all the stuff that you would put in the basket already in my purse.

I'd skip it. As everyone else has said, most of us travel with everything that's in there already.

Think about the times that you've been to the club or a bar that has the selection of goodies on the counter. Have you ever used it? I never (with the exception of mints) have even though it's been available.

I am doing it. I did the whole thing baskets included for about $20 each. So for that much it's a cute touch and it didn't break the bank. Go to the dollar store.

DEFINITELY not a necessity. It's not even an option for us tbh.

I was wondering the same thing when my venue asked if we were doing them. It's an indoor wedding in October - does anybody really need to reapply deodorant, not not have a mint?

I personally love bathroom baskets, but it's only because I work at a venue and since nothing is ever used in them and they are always left behind, I get get to keep the stuff in them lol! I haven't had to buy tide sticks, hair spray or wrinkle releaser in a year! (they truly are a waste, but nice if your guest does need something)!

Skip it. Unnecessary expense that people could care less about.
