Are invitations through Minted etc worth it?

Casey, on April 4, 2018 at 1:56 PM Posted in Planning 0 37

Hi!

I'm trying to figure out my invitations right now and not sure if I should go through sites like minted, zazzle etc. or if I should look for a company around my area who does invitations? I know its probably more expensive that way, but wonder if it's worth me not having to do all of the work.

We used a local business, and it came out to be the exact same price as the ones I had picked out on Minted. It was so worth it to me. I didn't realize until I got there that I was clueless about the wording. The woman working was a huge help.

We went through a local business as well and I'm soo glad we did. We got EXACTLY what we wanted because we made every choice. From the packaging, the font, the colors, the layering. Definitely worth the price!

I did Minted for my save the dates and while I liked them it was stressful and overwhelming for me doing everything online. For our invitations we are going through our local stationary shop and my appointment is actually tomorrow with my wedding planner and the shops invitation designer! I’m the kind of person who doesn’t have her wedding completely planned out on Pinterest and I need the guidance of professionals to tell me what they think would look best.

We used Minted. The product was super high quality and I loved how they printed the addresses for you in a beautiful style that matched your invitation suite. I found the website super easy to use.

We looked at one local shop and it was completely out of our price range. Semi-custom (using an existing design) started at $1,000 for 100, and completely custom started at $1,500 for 100.

We wound up getting what I think are really nice pocket ones from a website, and paid just under $400 for 75 (which is still a lot to me). We were able to customize the colors and wording.

1 of my gf who is getting married this year recommended minted to me and I sent away for their free invitation kit I must say that I'm quite impressed but I also found a company at a wedding expo that I'm impressed with just as well. I will have to do some pricing and see. At the end of the day, keep in mind that you are probably the only person that will save your invite, I'm betting most will throw it away after the wedding so dont go too crazy on the price

We used a shop based out of FL and we live in DC, via Etsy. It was a letterpress shop so they just shipped the final product. We paid about $800 for very formal letter press invitations, with RSVP +envelope and one insert, 125 of them. Not the cheapest thing going but cheaper than my local shops in DC. I will say now that I have them in my possession I noticed that they missed a few things and they are putting it on me as I approved the design. There are no misspellings and the few people I have showed them to didn't notice so I'm rolling with it.

I LOVED my experience on Minted. I found the designs to be a lot more stylish than zazzle, I liked supporting independent artists, and best of all was the envelope addressing. That made my life a breeze! Pro tip with Minted...whenever they have a sale, you can generally also buy "credit" at the sale price that you can use later toward your orders.

I've never used Minted, but I'm have my MOH's husband who is a graphic designer design my invitations and then printing them with Vistaprint. I think Vistaprint would be the best bang for your buck. I got 250 save the dates for around $120

I ordered my invites on Zazzle on March 29 and I picked them up at UPS yesterday! They came out exactly how I wanted them to be! And the fact that they were so fast made me super happy. I used a 50% code so the price for the invites and rsvp cards came out to be under $150.

Used Minted for both STDs and invites. The quality is fantastic and they have gorgeous designs with options in every price range. We opted for the 3-in-1 cards which were about $1.25ish each, but I also had a $50 credit for sharing my wedding photographer review/info with them. For 95 invites I ended up paying $77. They have sales all the time and you are supporting local/independent artists as well. Highly recommend.

Please tell me more about buying credit at the sale pricing. We have decided on a style with Minted but the details (time of day) of our wedding are not set in stone yet (brand new venue being built currently and things are not running quite perfectly yet). I have seen a couple sales come and go wishing I could jump on them but without a couple key details, I could not order.

Happy to help! I just did some digging on the Minted website and apparently buying credit isn't offered all the time. BUT what Minted always has available is the "Buy Now, Personalize Later" option. So you can pay and purchase your save the dates or invites at a sale price, and add in the details later. You can't change the card design after you buy it, but you can make all the other adjustments. More on that here: http://help.minted.com/articles/General/What-is-Buy-Now-Personalize-Later

Another thing to note is you get 20% off when you first sign up. Also, another 10% off if you include the designers mark on the back. I got my save the dates through minted and loved them!! Definitely will order my Wedding Invites from there too. Good luck!

I used zazzle and I loved my invitations. I'm not big on spending alot of money on something that will eventually go in the trash lol I ordered 75 invitations and 75 rsvp and it came to $185. I would rather splurge on other things for the wedding. That's just my personal opinion. Hope this helps😀

I used Minted. You definitely want to hit some sort of sale, to make them affordable. I had mine all planned out on the website, and was waiting for last Cyber Monday, because I knew they would have a good sale. And they did. They were completely within my budget. I loved the quality and loved the designs. I even got FH to help select the invitation - ordered a bunch of free samples and we looked through all of them, along with the color options before making a decision Smiley smile

I used minted for both my save the dates and invitations, and have received many compliments on them from our guests. I visited a stationery shop for a consultation and invitations on their most basic weight paper with one color thermography printing were quoted at about $1,000. My minted invitations on double thick paper, with a printed back and an envelope liner were half the price and I loved the ability to upload guest addresses. Best of luck!

We used Minted. I was super happy with the quality. They also allowed me to change and customize the font layout and wording. The free address printing with coordinating design was totally worth it LOL. I waited until they were having a sale before ordering. The designer I worked with was great because I had few changes and they were good at suggesting ways to make them work.
