Are engagement photos worth it?

Engagement photos aren't part of my photo package. How long does the typical session last? My photographer charges $300/hour. I wansn't thinking I'd have an engagement session but some of the pics on here look really cute! Does anyone here who is married regret not having them?

If you did pay extra for an engagement session, was it worth the money?

Many Thanks!

We didn't do engagement photos because they would have cost extra and I really hate having my picture taken anyways. Neither of us feel like we missed out. I already knew and felt comfortable with our photographers though. I could see how it would be worth it if you needed to get comfortable with your photog.

Neither of us felt strongly about getting them so we negotiated with the photographer to remove them from our preferred wedding package and substitute a different service. The maitre'd at the restaurant where we celebrated our engagement took a few photos and we were happy with those.

We did not do engagement photos, and I do not regret it. They're cute but personally it didn't seem worth the money. We felt comfortable with our photographers even without having a session prior to the wedding.

Ephotos are a great way to get to know your photographer and work with them before the wedding. but if you just want pictures livingsocial and groupon are your friends. you dont have to tell them its ephotos before hand. Get you a deal off one of those sites and make sure you're ready and ok with the location. I had one (never used it) but the company every weekend had 30 min and 1 hour sessions at local parks. It was like $20 for 30 mins and $30 for an hour. You got one edited photo. So the photos will cost you but you only have to buy the ones you like.
