Are chair covers necessary?

Now, on February 5, 2011 at 8:02 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 34

I was just wondering if you ladies think chair covers are necessary? I go back and forth about buying them so I thought I'd get some of your opinions!

Thanks!

No they are not necessary. However they make folding chairs match and add a touch of class and elegance. I bought them because we have a mix of chairs and it was cheaper than renting.

I don't think they are necessary as long as your chairs are decent looking. I bought them because i really like the look!

Personally, I can't stand chair covers. they're awkward and seem dated to me. Renting chairs can get super costly, so unless the chairs offered at your venue are horrendous then you can probably get away with them as is. Try and picture the whole room with all your decor, will the chairs stand out like a sore thumb or can you make it work? I'm going thru the same thing with my potential venue (haven't booked yet). I don't love the chairs, but I think I can make them work. If not, I'm going to have to come up with $1,000 for rentals.

I agree with amy... I love my venue but hated the chairs... I told my FS that I had to have chair covers lol.... So it all depends on how you feel and if you think it will make your venue look better... PS LOVE THE DATE!!!!

I agree, they aren't necessary. I think it depends on your budget as well..I have banquet chairs, not folding so I opted not to spend like 250 (on sale) for chair covers/sashes..I thought that money could go elsewhere like towards my photobooth. If you had folding chairs I'd strongly consider it though. And if I had felt more comfortable spending that money then I would have in a heart beat, I love them! :-)

The chairs are quite nice, not folding chairs. We're renting them, along with tables and everything else, because our venue just includes the rental of the building. I'm just debating spending 200-300 dollars on chair covers or putting it towards something like a photobooth (which we really want) or a late night snack bar for our guests.

I edited this comment and it came up an entirely new comment, weird, so that's why I hid the previous comment. C:

If it is a choice between chair covers and a photo booth, go for the photo booth. Your guests will love it.

Only if the venue chairs are ugly. I saw one venue where the chairs were puke green and had dark stains on them... I honestly think they had those chairs specifically so brides would pay them extra for chair covers. Needless to say, we didn't pick that venue.

I agree, I'd only spend the money if they were really ugly, stained, etc. But if you say the chairs are nice, then I wouldn't worry about that. I'd definitely use the money for the photobooth. I want to a friends wedding a few months ago that had one and it was a big hit.

Margo I was thinking the same thing but I came up with an inexpensive idea and I think it's cute and you can customize it to your wedding color. Just simple tulle

We had chair covers only because we were dealing with a mixture of battered metal folding chairs and banquet chairs, and the covers kind of tied them together. Plus, we bought them on sale, and were able to sell them for almost as much as we bought them for. But the fact is, once people sit in the chairs, dump their jackets over them, etc., they are just not going to be that noticeable.

Stacy l, that is such a cute idea! That way I can dress up the chairs and still put most of the money into something else for the wedding!

Depends on the chairs. Our venues chairs are salmon pink. The wedding colors are red black and white so I am going to have to pay the 1000 for chair covers.

That's what I am doing and if you decide to use the flowers you can get it from www.efavormart.com

I have a butterfly theme wedding with apple green and orange and I was looking for orange butterflies but gosh they are so darn expensive so I guess i'll use the flowers.

I think it's a cute and cheap idea... I mean people will be sitting in them anyways so.

I think it def. depends on the chair the venue and your colors/theme. At one of the venues I was looking at the chairs were brown and my colors are black, white, and hot pink- so i would have had to have chair covers. At the venue I picked the chairs are black and white so I don't have to have them!
