Are "Belly Bands" worth it?

bkf, on June 15, 2016 at 2:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 28

So, I'm getting ready to send out my invites and, of course, last minute, I'm questioning whether or not I should've ordered belly bands to hold the suite together.

I ordered my invitations, RSVP Post Card, and Reception/Direction card off of minted. Inside the envelope there are really only three pieces of paper - the invite itself, the RSVP postcard (no envelope needed), and a reception card that lists the directions on the backside.

Thoughts? Opinions? Advice?

I can order a simple grey belly band off of weddingpaperdivas that has our wedding date and initials and it will be here next week. I wanted the invites out by June 25th, so guests could receive them by the first of July.

Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

If it's a cost you want to take on and if the stationary is a high priority to you, I say go for it. Keep in mind that you run the risk of extra postage.

However, if you are trying to keep costs down and do not have stationary on your high priority list, skip em.

I did them. They're a total waste. You know where all mine are now? In someone's garbage lol.

PLUS, I ordered mine from Zazzle (great company, great invites) and the only problem I had was the glue on the belly bands were in the wrong place so I had to be very careful to only tear off half the backing paper. Then, nothing was really held tight together anyway, paper is slippery, so they didn't really do anything but look pretty for the three seconds people were ripping them off.

    You can skip them.

My vote is go for it. I think it really pulls the look together and had a nice presentation when the invite is taken out of the envelope.

May add to postage cost, especially if they make the envelope thicker.

I didn't do them, and I don't regret it. They're just going to be taken off and thrown away so you might as well spend the money on something else.

Invites were important to me & it wasn't that much more so I decided to get them. I'm happy I did.

Are the "worth it?" Probably not. But I had them and I think they look great. You just have to decide how important the look is to you.

I didn't do them. "Belly bands" to me is what "moist" is to others. I don't know why but it makes my stomach turn. It's weird I know.

If you need/like to save money this is a place to do it.

I didn't do them and I don't regret it. It wasn't something I wanted to spend money on and I'm sure my guests didn't care either way.

To keep costs down you could do a grey ribbon and fasten it in the back.

We went with belly bands instead of the pocket folds because it was a bit cheaper. We also got a little embellishment with our first names to stick on the belly bands. (Ordered both from cardsandpockets.com)

It looked cute, and our postage was cheap - we only needed one regular stamp for our invitations. So if you like the look, go for it. But it's also not a necessity.

I vote no simply because 1) They drive up the cost of postage, 3) if they have any kind of embellishment, the envelope is not flat, 4) No one will notice or care.

I think they're nice to have, but they are absolutely not necessary. I just tied a piece of twine with a little saying hanging from it as mine, but idk if something like that would fit with your theme. What about a ribbon? Lightweight, thin, probably wouldn't add postage?

They end up in the garbage and add postage. Smiley tongue Unless invitations are really important to you (it's okay if they are) then just do without the belly band.

I like them because I feel like it presents well. I used pocket folds so I had belly bands.

The presentation of the invites is personally important to me, so we're doing them. But they're certainly not necessary.
