Are aisle runners a necessity for indoor venue?

I didn't think about purchasing an aisle runner. Seems like an unnecessary expense to me and it doesn't sound like something I can resell and I just don't want to spend any more money. Our ceremony will be in the same room as the reception. The tables will be set up, but the chairs will be in rows...

Our ceremony will be in the same room as the reception. The tables will be set up, but the chairs will be in rows on the dance floor (see the picture attached. That is the other party room, but same idea for set up). Should we have one? I really don't know, since this set up isn't very typical. I guess the two weddings I have been to where the ceremony is in the same room, they have had one. But, I mean, more money :/

I'm on the same boat as you except I'm having a beach wedding. I don't know if u should buy so I don't drag my dress on the sand or should I skip it.

I've heard nothing but complaints about them. They get dirty easily, so you end up either telling people they have to enter aisles from the side to avoid stepping on them (thereby inconveniencing your guests) or rolling them out just before the processional (leading to all the guests sitting around bored while it happens). They are often a tripping hazard, And they tend to get dirty and wrinkled once the processional occurs, so any improvement they make in the look of the wedding initially is balanced out by the fact they quickly make it look worse.

We didn't have one, and lived to tell the tale. ;-)

Normally not necessary, but our church requires it if you use flower petals. So we are having one. I won't spend more than $30 from Amazon on it though.

I am skipping it, my brother had one at his wedding, I was a BM and we all were slipping on it as we walked down the aisle and the bride almost tripped, I think it can be a hazard. Sure they can look pretty but I don't think anyone will miss it if it's not there.

I found one for cheap on Amazon. My venue coordinator suggested it because of my lace train on a slated deck. Its unfortunately slick but hopefully I can scuff it up a bit during rehearsal or something.

Agree with the others that you can skip it. I was terrified of tripping, but I still made two 6" x 30' strips of tulle with leaves to put on either side of the aisle. That way, it's just the regular (hunter green, so kind of like the ground?) carpet in between, but I have the aisle clearly defined. If anything, you can put things on either side of the aisle to define it, but with chairs set up, it's probably unnecessary.

I don't think so. If I were having an indoor ceremony I would have skipped it.

From one Nancy to another, definitely skip the runner since you're in a cast.

Runners on slippery floors (tile, marble, terrazzo, wood) is like skating on ice.

They just remind me of 80s weddings. So no.

Not sure what we would do to decorate the aisle. We are doing very minimal decorations. Wanted our money to go to food, DJ and booze. We do have flameless candles, though. They were about the same price as real and are less hassle because they can't cause fires and I can re-sell after the wedding Smiley smile
