April 18th Wedding...too soon for invites?

Courtney, on February 2, 2020 at 11:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17
We are getting married April 18th and have our invitations ready to go. Is it too soon to send them out this week? RSVP date is March 11th.

Okay! I just didnt want to send them out too early. I made RSVP March 11th because our caterer has to know final count by March 18th.

I don't think it's too early! That's a good RSVP date. We just kinda had to choose one because our catering said they just needed to know the week of the wedding but I didn't want to RSVP that late so I just choose a date in March

I think send them now! You're right in that window, and it'll give people time to make plans.

I think it’s fine! People won’t get them for like 3-5 business days after you mail them anyway so it’ll be like 9ish weeks before the wedding

I think it's fine too! Esp if you need a final count earlier for venue purposes

It's funny I never say there's only a timeline to send out invitations because I know I plan a lot of stuff in advance and the sooner I know about an important day the better I can schedule it. I would definitely send it out now.

Okay thanks everyone. I have them in the car with me to mail after work today. I just didn't want to mail them too early.

Date twin!! I sent mine out last week. This is a good time if you have an earlier date to give final counts to your vendors!

Woohoo!! Are you starting to get stressed a bit, because I sure am! It’s really kicking in, especially since my bridal shower is this Saturday!

The usual is to send them to arrive 8 weeks before the wedding. So don't expect earlier answers. Even if there is no problem getting a day off, people wait until all invitations possible for a date are in. If they do not have saves, but are aware some friends and family are planning for some spring day, they wait. Couple does not want to say yes to a friend, only to find a family member has the same date. Or they have another wedding the week before you, and , 2 they know about right after. And need to plan for shower dates, and see what they can afford. So they wait till about 4 weeks before the wedding, completely disregarding your RSVP deadline, then reply. Or, they immediately say yes. And 4 weeks before the wedding, say, we should not have answered yes so quickly. Now we know we cannot come. Sad but true. You are sending early, so expect to wait a couple months til mid March for many answers.
