Appropriate Vendor Response Time

Jessielee, on March 22, 2024 at 12:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 2

Hi all,

I was hoping someone could give me some insight on how long is normal between vendor responses. I found the place we want to get married. We did a tour on Tuesday and he said to let him know since he has a few venues on the property. We texted him an hour after leaving and asked to confirm the date and location. He never responded. Wednesday I sent a text with my email in case he needed it to get the contract started and to me to review, again no response. I texted him again this morning (friday) at 8am saying that I know he is very busy but he hadn't confirmed the date/location and I haven't received the contract. I just wanted to confirm that the date/location are ours because my photographer wanted to confirm me in her books. He didn't respond. I called the main number which is just an answering service who took a message. He then texted me asking for the timeline he drew for me, but again did not confirm.

The most stressful part of wedding planning is confirming a date and location. I just want this on my plate so I can move on. Its making my anxiety go crazy and makes me wonder if this will be what the entire experience is like. Plenty others have given glowing reviews about this place, but did say dealing with him was difficult. Do I look for alternative places? Do I scrap this place that I love all together? Do I wait and hope? I'm not really sure what to do here. Every other vendor/venue I've spoken to has been so great at communicating.

Instead of texting, call and speak over the phone or send an email. Those are not as easy to ignore or miss. Believe all the reviews you read for a vendor because they are actual experiences. For some reason, people don’t like to write them even for good experiences, and reviews are how couples get a vendor. Without them, a couple is lost so they do serve a purpose. Have a backup vendor/venue in mind in case. Give them a week (business days) and then try again. If after 10 business days, you still don’t get a response, move on to the next on your list.

Thanks Michelle. I’ve called, it’s an answering service that forwards messages to the owner and I’ve emailed. The responses are always through text.

He did finally get back to me late tonight saying contract Tuesday. So I feel much better that he at least let me know he got my messages.
