So I just went to Kay's and had my ring cleaned, I've gone before and what normally happens is they clean it right in front of me and give right back and say have a nice day(I've been to 2 different locations). So I just went to Kay's and had my ring cleaned, I've gone before and what normally happens is they clean it right in front of me and give right back and say have a nice day(I've been to 2 different locations). Fast forward to today I go in a different location (moved) and she takes it and actually inspects it in front of a microscopic. She informs me that one of my smaller diamonds is chipped and she will send it off to be fixed. She gets on her computer and asks when was my last inspection I tell her I'm not sure of the date but I tell her the location. She says she has no record of it and they should've given me an inspection form after they cleaned the ring (NEVER GOT THAT) and that since there is no record of my last inspection I have to PAY for them to fix it. THEN goes on to say but if they had the record on file I wouldn't have to pay for them to fix it... whaaaat? So because someone didn't do their job and one that I was unaware of I have to pay for an employee's mistake cont

That is really sad, I hope it all works out for you. I would def. complain again and again, and if you have wedding insurance or if you insured your ring you could file a claim and make them go after kay Jewlers.

When I received my engagment ring from FH he gave me the piece of paper that says inspection record and the protection plan. They told him to give me those two things so every 6 months I could go in and have it inspected so it would be covered if the diamond ever chipped, broke or fell out. We also recently went and got our wedding bands and they gave me the same paperwork for my wedding band to get it checked every 6 months (I don't think FH has to get his checked since his is Tungsten, but does have 3 diamonds in it..hmmm? I'm curious now). So yeah they deff should have told you about it.

That sucks. We bought my ring the day after our official engagement. We purchased it from a shop in the jewelry district in Boston. I live in Virginia, and I just had it sized, redipped and cleaned from a local jeweler. Trustworthy and reliable. I'm now going to use him for everything I need.

My ring is from kays and every 6 months it goes for a cleaning and inspection. They gave me a form that they stamped that I bring in and they sign off on it. It's the form that came with the insurance booklet.

Helzberg has the same policy with the warranty I purchased with the ring he gave me. I get mine inspected every 6 months and replating of rhodium is included.

A cleaning is very different from an inspection. If you haven't taken it in every six months and told them you needed one, yes it's your fault.

We got my e-ring and our wedding bands from Kay's. FH bought it in February, they gave him a little pamphlet of info and highlight the months it needs to be inspected. They do this for every single ring. My wedding band had one. Even a ring my father gave me for graduation. So my months are Feb and Aug. I've gotten my ring cleaned twice since then and haven't had an official inspection, though last time the girl did look under the microscope but she went to school with FH and took VERY good care of us.

Depending on the men's ring you get, it probably won't need inspected. FH's doesn't, it just comes with a warranty and you take it in when you need something done to it.

Fh doesn't like big jewelers so we went to a local one and he was so helpful. Taught him the c's of diamonds then had him pick one out. People comment all the time on how brilliant it shines. He did good. I do have a diamond ring from Kay's and you do have to get it inspected. I don't like them
