Anyone Used David's Bridal garment bag?

Shelley, on September 13, 2012 at 4:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

I am going to pick up my dress on Saturday, but Alfred Angelo doesn't have anymore garment bags so I plan on going to DB and purchase one from there.

Can anyone share their experience with this garment bag? I heard it rips easily so I plan on buying 2.

I bought one with my dress and have had no problem. I think they sell two though and one is heavier. It wasn't much money, it's really only been hanging up in the closet for a month and the drive home from the store though. The one I got supposedly is designed to keep out dust and light and prevent fading. The other is just plastic.

My bag worked just fine. The hanger that came with the bag or was it with my dress(?) was just a plastic one with clippy things to hold up the train(they put tissue paper between the clips and the fabric to keep it from making permanent marks, and than they put a cardboard form over it that the dress went over to help it keep its shape. Did you not get a hanger from AA?

I have my dress in a DB garment bag and have had it hanging for almost 8 months without it deteriorating at all!

Mine was $10 with my dress. Nick didn't think it was necessary but I made him buy it. I have zipped and un-zipped it several times and have had no issues as of yet. I have it hanging off a closet door (it's long)

The hanger my dress came on is one of the heavy clear plastic ones, and my dress is strapless so it has all the loops, but they are looped a certain way to take of pressure so it won't rip the dress.

When is Alfred Angelo getting more bags? I have both (had 2 dresses, 1 from DB, 1 from AA). The AA bag is nicer to me and was $5. I haven't heard about the DB bags ripping -- they're pretty sturdy, but the zippers can be tricky.

My AA dress came one a hanger and they sold me the bag when I picked it up. If they don't have any, they can't get mad at you for buying from a competitor Smiley smile

I left mine hanging for ~ 4 months before the wedding (got the dress mid-November)

I bought one, and it lasted a couple months, but then it stopped zipping. When I took the dress in for alterations, they changed the bag for me without a problem, but I was disappointed that it had broken in the first place!

I had my dress hanging, and I would open it every couple weeks to see my dress. =) I never did any crazy zipping and unzipping though and I realy don't know why it stopped working...

I also had the SAME problem with Alfred Angelo! They ran out and expected me to take my dress home in a janky plastic bag, that was see-thru! How can they expect you to take your dress home that you just spent over $1,000 on in a flimsy piece of junk bag?! I put up a huge fuss about it and they ended up shipping one to my house as soon as they got them in! I'd seriously talk to a manager about what terrible customer service that is! I am in Sacramento, CA by the way, where are you Shelley? Must have been a national shortage. . .

    I bought 2 garment bags from https://shop.loveandlavender.com/shop/ultimate-wedding-garment-bag/

I wore 2 dresses for my wedding, I also had 2 sets of heels, bras and jewelry. That garment bag has so many pockets it allowed me to have two different outfit changes and not worry that something might have been left at home or lost in a duffle bag. Handy Handy Bag to have for your wedding! And the material is strong, there was no chance of ripping. Hope that helps Smiley smile
