FH and I want to do something different then the average clinking of the glasses to make us kiss. I've been to weddings where they have made guests get up and sing a song with love it but I think thats is getting to be a bit over done. My aunt went to a wedding a few weeks a go where the couple had a bicycle horn set by a jar and if someone placed money in the jar they honked the horn. The couple then donated all the money to a local charity. i really like this idea and was wondering if anyone else was doing something different?

It's what our MC's did, they did kind of a house rules thing where they said that the bar would be closed after supper, and will re-open after supper, there was no smoking in the hall, and to please keep your drinks off the dance floor (that actaully worked really well) and then went on to say that about the clinking of the glasses. It worked out well, we had zero noise making for kisses.

We didn't even think about the whole clinking glasses thing so on our wedding day there were people clinking their glasses every few minutes. It got soo annoying. Really, if you can, find another way that isn't so annoying. I couldn't even talk to someone without being interrupted by the glass clinking.

As to those who are opposed to the entire idea (like me) I am just going to completely ignore it if anyone clinks their glass. They will get the hint sooner or later :-)

I know it's money related and you all are saying to stay away from that BUT I really like the idea of giving to cancer research. and besides, no one is forcing ppl to donate or how much they should give, heck I'd kiss FH for a penny to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, I'd even match the donations. Smiley smile

Maybe it's just me and b/c it hits close to home on this one, but I don't see any problem with donating to charity at the wedding. (and if it silences clicking, I'm all for it lmao)

I've been at weddings where the DJ makes the announcement that if you want the bride and groom to kiss, you need to sing a song with the word "love" in it. At one wedding the couple was not into publicly kissing so they had hula-hoops and had the DJ announce that the couple will only kiss if someone does the hula-hoop for at least 5 seconds.
