Anyone sending out spanish invites?

Veronica, on June 16, 2011 at 11:29 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

Hello ladies,

I am going to send out two sets of invites, some in English, others in Spanish. I was just wondering if any of you were doing the same? And if so, what did your wording look like? Please share! Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

So far, I have researched these two that I kinda like, but am not 100% on them:

Audelia y Jose Manuel Lopez (t)

y

Maria Teresa y Armando Viramontes

tienen el honor de invitarle

a usted y a su apreciable familia

al enlace matrimonial

de sus hijos

Veronica Esmeralda

y

Carlos Alberto

que se llevará a cabo

el Sabado, veinte de Agosto

del año dos mil once

a las 11:45 de la mañana

Or

Wording 1

Audelia y Jose Manuel Lopez(t)

Maria Teresa y Armando Viramontes

participan el enlace matrimonial

de sus hijos

Veronica Esmeralda

y

Carlos Alberto

y cordialmente les invitan a la

Ceremonia Religiosa que se celebrará

el Sábado, veinte de Agosto

del año dos mil once

a las once cuarenta y cinco de la mañana

I don't know, the wording feels kinda awkward for me, although it's been years since I saw a spanish wedding invitation.

Great, thanks Mrs In Sept! I wanted to add something kind of religious too, but I just can't find words.

I'm thinking the same thing too. I don't know what to add to it. but I like the wording of the first. I don't know if maybe to add a religious quote in spanish.

We are sending Spanish and English invites too (get ready for some organization skills getting some use lol). We used something along the lines of (sorry dont have the exact invitation in front of me)

Porque usted ha compartido en nuestra vidas con su amistad y amor..... Juntos con nuestra familias

we didnt put parents names (its complicated and we are paying for our own wedding).

Yes, I have seen many invites in English that have some nice wording... for example, I really like this, but is it translated correctly?

    Two lives united in friendship,

    Two friends united in love,

    One love united in Christ.

    Dos vidas unidas en Amistad,

    Dos amistades unidos en Amor,

    Un Amor unidos en Cristo.

Thanks Summer, that's also a really great idea. Smiley smile The parents' names are also something I thought about. We are paying for about 90% of the wedding costs, and getting help from our families for the rest. I really wanted to include my dad since he passed away, but also wanted them to feel included...

Just a couple of suggestions, grammar related, not really content related:

In Spanish, capitalization rules are different. We don't capitalize days of the week (sábado), and we also don't capitalize formal event names like "ceremonia religiosa."

The phrase "tienen el honor de invitarle" is a direct translation from English. It's not grammatically correct in Spanish.

"que se llevara al cabo" is also superfluous. You can do without that phrase.

Be careful with the phrase "les invitan" (it is only grammatically correct if the invitation is for more than one person (i.e. The Jones family) not appropriate for Mr Edward Jones.

Good luck! (I mean, buena suerte!)

Thank you soooo much!! My grammar is horrible in Spanish. The original wording I stole this from had sabado uncapitalized also, but I changed it. As for the rest, I will definitely keep it all in mind! Smiley smile

I will post the whole thing when I get home so you can see the exact wording. We are including the parents in our program and with reserved seats.

Thanks Hayley, that is the same website I looked at. Smiley smile And Unique, I am thinking about combining them somehow. I liked the first, but I also liked some of the wording on the second... but still I feel something is off.

Summer, thanks so much, that would be greatly appreciated!! Smiley smile

    Dos vidas unidas en Amistad,

    Dos amistades unidos en Amor,

    Un Amor unidos en Cristo

If you use this just change the Amistad to amistad and Amor to amor, you dont need to use caps. Smiley smile

Sabado has an accent on the first a. And dia on the i.
