I don't have a CZ ring, but I deal with them in my line of work. They are soft. That means that they will scratch and become dull over time, so they will not last very long.

Just curious why you're asking this, though. I thought you posted a while back that you were upgrading your current e-ring....?

    eta: grammar

@MMB one of my neighbors was telling me since we are so young start out small and work our way up, so I see cz rings are nice, but I was just asking what other people thought of it

Yeah, don't do it. If you want fake there are much better options out there; moissanite specifically springs to mind. CZ doesn't stand up to regular wear at all and will look like crap in short order.

    Ah, I see.

I think a CZ would be fine if you don't mind replacing it later on, because like I said, it just won't hold up that long.

I would recommend looking into Moissanite to see if that fits your price range. They are about as hard (if not just as hard, I think) as diamonds and have really beautiful flash to them.

I have a 'fake' ring that I wear to the gym and beach. Can't tell that it is CZ. Sterling silver band and it isn't scratched. Not bad. $20 on amazon .

Moissanite is not "fake" it's a gem. I have a morganite and if someone called it fake I'd be pissed.

Op, there are plenty of beautiful diamond alternatives to choose from. I do agree CZ isn't the best choice. My morganite ring was very affordable, I was never a fan of the idea of dumping thousands into jewelry. It's sparkly and stunning and I love it.

I have a aquamarine and I love it. I like unique rings they don't have to be diamonds.

I didn't know about moissanite or morganite! I looked at some comparisons and to me they are just as beautiful

The GIA classifies moissanite as a "synthetic diamond imitation." AKA fake. Natural gems are mined from the ground, synthetics are created by human forces.

Morganite is an entirely different mineral, and it is mined from naturally occurring sources.

I concur about Moissanite. Its just as hard as a diamond and it actually can be "blingier" than diamonds

So first, moissanite isn't fake. It was originally isolated from asteroids and is a naturally occuring gemstone. However, for jewelry it is synthetically made, but again (sorry, I'm a chemist, so this is a big thing to me) does not mean it's "fake"; synthetically made just means made in a lab- the chemical structure is exactly the same. (Same thing goes for lab created diamonds- they're the same thing.)

So, I have a moissanite ring because FH and I were not comfortable with the diamond industry (a whole separate post) and I love it. Moissanite has a Mohs hardness of 9.5, so its harder than sapphire, another commonly used stone, but it also has a higher refractive index than diamond, meaning it's generally "sparklier". I would say if you're looking for a cheaper but durable option, its definitely worth looking into.

Here's my ring from our e-pic session:

I thought your FH was upgrading your "bridal set" to a bigger "diamond"?

    Is that no longer happening?

eta: I saw your response above. Why do you care what other people think about CZ's? Are you worried about being judged about the ring quality?

Didn't you want to upgrade your "bridal set"? ETA: same thoughts Gym... my guess is OP Def cares what people think as her first post was all about the upgrade and a bigger rock...
