Anyone have a morganite engagement ring?

evesa, on May 15, 2017 at 5:26 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 38

My FH proposed with a ring pop and I loved it! Now, we are shopping around for my engagement ring. I've never been a diamond type so I'm exploring other options. Does anyone have a morganite ring and would like to share your experience and perhaps a picture. Thanks!

I don't have a morganite ring, but my FH also proposed with a ring pop then immediately followed it up with the actual ring!! I thought it was so funny and clever. Good luck!!

I am a very simple person and am not materialistic at all. I could not justify spending thousands of dollars on a ring. I picked out a white sapphire center stone with blue sapphires on the side. I LOVE my ring and get compliments daily and everyone thinks it a diamond with the way it sparkles.

I love morganite! I wanted one so bad but I read about the higher possibility of damage and decided my clumsy self could not handle that responsibility lol. Here is a photo of my ringspiration that is on an actual person and not a hand model, if that helps.

A lot of these alternative rings are beautiful! You just need to be careful because they're typically not as hard as a diamond or they catch different colors in the light that can make them look off volor

This isnt my ering, its my right hand ring. The morganite is scratched(happens easy) and gets dirty/cloudy constantly. ( Dirty right now lol) I still love it but PP are correct about damage.

I'm not sure about morganite rings but I know that some stones can't be insured (my sister had this issue when she found out what she had picked for her engagement ring couldn't be insured and she had to find a different option). Whatever you choose just make sure it fits your style, and if it's a big deal for you to have insurance make sure whatever stone you choose can be insured. Congratulations!

I have moissanite as well, and I love it. Harder than sapphire, and not quite as hard as diamond, around 9.25-9.5 on the mohs scale. (But keep in mind less hard tends to mean less brittle.) Also, moissanite is sparklier than diamond because it has a higher refractive index.

Mine is a 1 ct. round cut and the color is equivalent to a colorless (D-E-F) diamond.

I love my morganite ring; I think it's elegant, classy, and it goes with everything. Plus the rose gold pairing looks flattering on many, if not all, skin tones. The (soon-to-be) hubs and I have talked about upgrading in the future, but I think I will always love my soft pink beauty... it's been almost two years since I've been proposed to with this beautiful stone, and it still looks as gorgeous as it did back then. It requires regular cleaning, but I think all rings do (I get mine professionally cleaned at least every 6 months). Congratulations, by the way!

@OliviaP I'm not sure how hard my sister searched for an insurer so you might be right. I have a traditional diamond so my FH didn't have any issues insuring it. I know she originally wanted an opal ring, but like I said I don't know how hard she searched for an insurer or if she just took the first company she asked at their word when they said it wasn't insurable.

I do! And I love it--but it is pretty fragile. For me I think it's more so the setting than the stone that I have to be careful with because it's a cathedral setting and sits high off my hand, I have to be careful to not bang it on things. But I love it and would t trade it for anything!

I agree with pp about moissanite rings. I'm pretty rough and mine is scratch free. It's also VERY shiny

Mines morganite and rose gold. I love it it's exactly what I wanted. I'm not a huge diamond person either, it's my birthday stone so I burned out on them young lol. Not the best picture but FH did good.

I was considering moissanite as well. I'm such a nerd and love the fact that moissanite is made in a lab lol. I do love the rose gold morganite combination though. I forgot to mention that FH and I were thinking of upgrading to something else in a few years. I just can't bring myself to spend thousands on a ring and thousands on the wedding. I rather we focus on the wedding for now and upgrade to moissanite later on.
