Anyone familiar with this myregistry.com? Wanted to register with World Market online

Alexis, on February 10, 2015 at 9:53 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

So I was browsing world market.com and found all these great home/kitchen items that are great prices Id love to start a registry for...but it turns out it goes through some other site, myregistry.com. Anyone know how that works or used that? Im really not too great with online stuff haha.Thinking I may just skip it altogether because I don't want it to be confusing for guests or anything since its not just like through a regular store. Just looking for anyones advice/opinions Thanks!

We almost used it. But, from reviewing some other forums, we found out that a lot of couples ended up with duplicate gifts, especially when they registered at places that weren't compatible to sync with myregistry.

Apparently, when you go to purchase an item, a new window or tab is opened for the store you registered at. After your guests buy something, they then have to head back to myregistry and confirm if they bought something or not. And since most guests assume that the registries update automatically, this is apparently something that gets overlooked. Since a lot of our guests aren't the most tech-savvy, so we opted against using it because we didn't want to deal with the hassle of duplicate gifts. Not sure if that helps at all, ha.

Yea it does, thanks! I was thinking it just seemed more complicated than typical registering. Plus if some guests like you said arent tech savvy I figure itd be a problem, heck I couldn't even figure it out haha! They had super cute affordable stuff too! Oh well, started a registry with BB&B!

Ok Cassie..maybe I will keep it going since its ok to have a few places you are registered right?

edited to add: the world market stuff is different from items Ive seen other places..so hopefully no duplicate gift issues like Samantha was mentioning

Hi! I used myregistry for my wedding. I’m not very tech savvy either, but it was pretty self explanatory. I had a few registries at a few stores, so it was great to kinda pull them all together. I even added some stuff from World Market. I was skeptical about the whole ‘online’ thing too but it turned out great! It tells people that they need to come back to the site to update the list. I went ahead added a message on myregistry, just in case, to explain to my friends that they need to take things off the registry that they have purchased. Hope this helps Alexis. Good luck!
