Anyone ever used the photo app Veri?!

Shannon449, on September 15, 2016 at 9:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

Got an email today about it and it looks awesome.. As long as people at your wedding download their app, all the photos from your wedding download into your wedding album so everyone can see each other's pics and you can download whatever pics you want. Could be nice to not track down everyone's rando pics! It also came with a 30% off coupon!

A friend was telling me about this. It sounds like it automatically uploads every picture your guests take during your wedding. Which has some seriously awkward possibilities! I wouldn't really want an app to automatically grab every one of my photos, even during a limited time frame. Way too much possibility for trouble! (You wouldn't want to see the 15 pics I took trying to get just the right angle on the flowers, anyway, even if I didn't accidentally send you anything embarrassing.)

That's weird; I got an email too, saying the developer found me from my registry and offering me 30% off. It was a well-written email; I just couldn't figure out how she obtained my contact information from "stumbling upon" my registry.

Also, getting people to download an app sounds more complicated than using a hashtag.

This looks amazing! WeddingWire does have an app as well, but doesnt look like they include video. Veri allows uploading for all photos, and videos, unlimited space, and you have access to download for up to a year. Seems like a great alternative to a $1500 videographer Smiley smile

So to be clear, if guests download this does it mean that ALL photos automatically upload - they can't choose which ones?

Yes. As far as I can tell, it automatically uploads all photos taken by someone with the app during your time slot at your location. I could be wrong, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable using such an app.

I was wondering the same.. From experience I know many photos/videos guests take at weddings are not necessarily considered "social media share worthy" (from the guests point of view) and then the bride and groom miss out and the pictures are never seen and lost forever.. BUT. Those same photos/videos would probably be considered "Veri share worthy" and the guests would be willing to share with the bride and groom via the app. However; I would feel much more comfortable if my guest were prompted and asked after each photo if they would like to share or not. I would think the auto sharing would scare people and cause them to actually take LESS pictures. I know I would be much more thoughtful in my picture taking if I knew every. single. one. was posted to an album I had no control over.

Videographers are expensive, but if you do your research and all you want is raw footage and a short video, you can find someone that does not have a lot of wedding experience or even a student in college trying to build their portfolio to capture your wedding, provide you raw footage, and a short video at a reasonable price. Our guy has been filming music videos for 8 years and now he is trying to get into the wedding industry. He is charging us $250 for our wedding because he is looking to get experience and build his portfolio. He was very professional and we have a written contract. They are out there, you just have to do some research.

Your guests don't have to share every photo. When the guests go to the event page that you set up, they can turn off auto-sharing and just manually upload the photos/videos they want to. Still very easy. Used this for my bachelorette weekend. It worked great! I got to see a lot more of the photos than if everyone had to deal with a hashtag. I just finished setting up the Event for the Wedding!

I bought Veri for my wedding and at the last minute added my Bridal Shower. My wedding isn’t until August but my shower was yesterday. We only had about 5 people download the app but we got over 100 pictures! It’s totally worth it!!
