Anyone ever ordered bridesmaid dresses online??

KR, on November 16, 2013 at 11:20 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

Hey all! I have been in love with the bridesmaid dresses at Renz Rags (Etsy store in San Francisco with great reviews) for months now but am hesitant. I love that my bmaids can order whatever style they want in the color/fabric I choose, and that they are custom made to their measurements (with a bit extra to let out in case, and my mom can take dresses in if they are too big).

BUT, the girls would have to order them without trying the styles on. They could try similar dresses on at other stores and get a feel, but maybe that's just too much of a hassle.

Has anyone tried this?

And here is their site. Their dresses are lovely: http://www.etsy.com/shop/RenzRags?section_id=12352691

I ordered my bridesmaid dresses on Etsy as well. I actually ordered a sample dress first. I chucked the $200 up to wedding expenses and I plan to wear it to take pictures with my girls on the wedding day. I ordered it in white and theirs will be tiffany blue. I got just what I asked for so I couldn't be more satisfied.

Hope it goes well for you, maybe do like I did and order a sample dress in one of your bridesmaid's sizes and color.

My girls got theirs from Target. I got a convertible dress from an Etsy vendor when I was considering that route. The dress didn't work, but the seller was fine.

With anything, just do your research. Read the reviews to ensure things are legit. Check out the return policy. Basically, cover your @$$ and money.

I think that's a good idea to just order one first and see what you think!

Yup! My BMs bought all of theirs online after I got one of them to try it on in store to confirm I loved it as much in person, and I did!

Great advice! I think I will order a test dress if I end up ordering them online. Thanks!

@KayRay, did you end up using Renz Rags? I am so close to ordering them for my bridesmaids, but I'd love to know if it worked out for you!

Hey Lauren! I haven't ended up ordering anything yet. I decided maybe I will go shopping with the maids who live in my town and at least see what styles everyone likes...and then maybe go from there. I still love those dresses so they are still good possibilities! If you end up ordering, I'd love to know how it goes!

I just got my 4 bridesmaids' dresses in from RenzRags on etsy. ORDER FROM HER! One of my bridesmaids is a designer for Samsonite. She brought her dress in to work today, and the entire design team was going over it with a fine tooth comb. They all said the dress should easily cost $300 (not the $118 that I paid). I am utterly blown away by the quality.

Thanks for the heads up, Maggie! It's nice to know they are as beautiful as they looked online. I was ready to order but when my bridesmaids went to try on some styles (to find the type they wanted before ordering online) we actually fell in love with a dress at one of the shops so just ordered that one.

WARNING!! Don't order from them! They lost my dresses after I paid for them and I had to buy them again. They are from China which they don't tell you! Lost almost $1000.00!!

They won't talk to you over the phone. It's a nightmare. We are taking legal action!

DO NOT ORDER FROM RENZRAGS ON ETSY!!! They are a scam and I do believe it is from China not California. I ordered a $400 custom wedding dress and I am horrified at what came in the mail. One, it smells like a dead animal. 2) Nothing was right about what I ordered, not color, not style, and they left out what they call the "liner". They sent me a sheer top. I am having a Catholic wedding, and what I ordered was fairly modest vintage style tea length dress. I have been in tears for days now. They have crushed what my dream dress was. Please, please take me seriously, DO NOT ORDER FROM RENZRAGS! SCAM!

My wedding dress was made by RenzRags and it arrived to me SOAKED in cat urine. It was hardly like the lengthy detailed descriptions and images I had sent them, It was also not correctly measured and the fabric used was cheap and "dyed" black. I messaged Miya and RenzRags asking for a reimbursement of the cost of cleaning and one yard of the lace used to create the bodice (she cut the lace into scraps and just laid them, unevenly, all over a cheap "nude" fabric to create the bodice) but she refused to help with either request, stating it was just a chemical smell and it will go away in a couple of days and that she can't get any more lace/won't help me get more lace.

My seamstress and fiance are both allergic to cats, making it difficult to have it adjusted. I have been to two high level cleaners specializing in wedding gowns who are having a difficult time finding a way to clean the urine and it's nasty smell out of my gown without completely destroying the shape, fabric or color! Not to mention the unexpected $150 cleaning costs, the cost to replace the entire, poorly made bodice, and the $100-$150 alterations costs... which, if we cannot get the smell out, will increase to the cost of COMPLETELY remaking the dress! I am so disappointed and disgusted by the shop and it's lack of customer service! I will be reporting the situation to the Better Business Bureau as well as Etsy. This is incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. Planning a wedding is already a great deal of work and stress, having to worry about my dream dress because of the disgusting smell of cat urine/spray soaked into the fabric is a whole other problem added onto that work and stress! I pray no one else ever has to deal with the terrible customer service and low quality that this woman and her company produce.
