Anyone else not give a crap about a guest book?

I just don't care about having a book, map, picture..... Nothing. I don't care to have anything guests can sign. I saw a cool looking map that I liked because my FH and I are from different countries and it was an international romance BUT for what it costs, I can live without. Did anyone regret not...

Did anyone regret not having a guestbook of some kind?

I felt the traditional guest book was a waste and that we'd never look at it again. I wanted to do the Polaroid album but didn't want to pay for the film as our budget is pretty small. I ordered regular a photo album. We're going to have people write a note and sign in the photo section, send us a fun selfie from the wedding night, and I'll print them from our printer at home to put in the album. 🤷‍♀️

I don't think I've ever been to a wedding with a guest book, honestly. I thought they were outdated and no one really had them anymore till I came on here.

We're skipping it. We'll have photos and video to remember our wedding guests by.

Agreed! Guestbooks seem especially outdated and I don't need more stuff to 1) waste money on 2) have gathering dust around the house. That said, my DH insisted we have a guestbook for our 60's reception because that was part of that era. He bought one line. Only a handful of people signed their names. What are we going to do with that? Sigh. Waste of money. Oh well.

For our DW, we weren't going to have a guestbook but my DH has a Disney pirates art poster his late mom bought for him years ago. It fit our pirate theme perfectly, we already had it, and what a great way to include his mom in our special day! Sadly, one of the few pics our photographer didn't get, but here's an image of the poster:

Yeah not having a guest book, globe, wall art or anything else. We are having a small ish wedding of 50 guests and have no need for signatures

We are not having one. People generally bring cards and their sentiments will be in that.

Thank you for this idea! We are religious but not overly religious and this fits us perfectly.

That's awesome! You're so welcome! I will say the one kicker we did have was some people didn't realize it was the guest book so my day of coordinator and some bridesmaids went over and did it- showing everyone what to do (even though we had a sign) and then it became a hit- and for some people they just signed so it didn't feel like they HAD to highlight something. As DH and I are both minsters everyone came up and said it was perfect for us! Good luck!

We actually play boardgames every now & then. We're using our Jenga blocks as ours.

We are doing a photo guest book next to the Photo Booth. We figured we'd be more likely to look back at it.

I feel the same way! I would never display something with a bunch of scribbles on it and I know I will never look at a book. I may get a cheep simple book just so there will be something as I'm sure it will be expected but honestly I'm on the fence of skipping it all together.

I'm in the same boat. I don't want the traditional book and I don't think we would hang something anywhere. If we do anything at all it may be polaroid pictures - we have the Fuji camera and if our budget allows it I'll do something with that but not set in stone.

We are not doing one either. Most of the weddings I have gone to the guestbook was either skipped or only the first few pages were used. If you have family that would write sweet notes in it then I can see how it would be worth it, but for us everyone would just sign their name or something. No point in spending extra money on a book for with a few signatures in the front.

Haha this made me laugh! I was on that page, until I got closer to my wedding and rushed to get them. I love letters and cards, so written notes are really important to me - opening the guest book the morning after our wedding and reading the messages together was one of the most amazing moments we had as a (just) married couple. I have great memories of it and I am glad we got the guestbook after all.

I think it depends on how much you care about cards, and notes in general.

Yes, me too! I just don’t care. I think I’ll make a little photo guestbook with our engagement photos to leave out, but that’s probaby it (I have a free one from Shutterfly, so it’ll cost me like $6 for shipping only). My aunt gave us a guestbook chalkboard thing for people to write on (my cousin didn’t end up using it for her wedding) but I would never hang that up in our house so I don’t think I’ll use it at the wedding.
We’re having a photobooth and they give us a book with all the photos and notes from guests, so that’ll probably function mostly as our informal guestbook.
