Anyone else not give a crap about a guest book?

Alexandria, on June 10, 2018 at 8:49 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 35
I just don't care about having a book, map, picture..... Nothing. I don't care to have anything guests can sign. I saw a cool looking map that I liked because my FH and I are from different countries and it was an international romance BUT for what it costs, I can live without.
Did anyone regret not having a guestbook of some kind?

I feel the same! I'm like, im definitely not going to display anything in my house that all these people have signed, nor am I going to look back on it someday.
We ended up grabbing a Polaroid camera..actually one one the cheap fujifilm ones, and I bought it used. Then I got a scrap book and am going to have everyone paste their picture and write us a note. I figured that I will actually look through the pics and throughout the night will probably take several pics myself and so will the bridal party. I think it'll be fun since we're not having a photo booth.

But I would say of you want nothing at all, then don't bother with it! You can do whatever you want. I have to keep reminding myself of that, just because it's expected doesn't mean it's required (:

The last few weddings I went to didn’t have one and no one missed it. Our photographer puts together a guest book with our e pics so we’ll have that out for people to flip through but idk if we’ll have pens with it honestly.

I regret doing a guest book tbh. Or at least I regret doing it without giving more explicit instructions of what we wanted.

I bought a nice but cheap one online. We had 43 guests and a 20 page guestbook. We were expecting a sentence or two of well wishes from each person/ couple to be able to look back over later, but we didn't make a sign asking for that specifically.
Everyone just signed their names, the entire guest list taking up less than two pages of the book. I don't even really want to keep it now but feel weird wanting to throw it out given we did buy it and everyone signed in.

I’m on the fence about one. I love the photo guest book idea, but realistically would we look at it often enough to justify the money we’d spend on it all?

I didn’t want a book because I know we’ll never look at it. I don’t want anything to hang on the wall - I’ve seen wall decor guest books where people have done stupid stuff, like draw a big gaudy heart with their signature. I settled on having everyone sign a wine bottle cork, which we’ll put in a fancy vase/jar with our wedding date on it. This matches some of the wine decor in our apartment, and is small enough to stick just about anywhere to display it.

Husband and I decided on a bible that could be highlighted and signed (journaling bible) for our guest book. We are both religious, and hated the idea of the typical wall art/ book guest books and knew we would use a bible for the rest of our life.
We plan to use that bible as our “family” bible and cherish all the verses important people in our lives highlighted as a sign of advice Smiley smile

We are just doing an old school traditional guest book. As previous posters have said - I would never hang something in my home that people signed (the new trendy stuff) - but, I do like the idea of a guestbook. I probably won't pick it up for years after the wedding .. but imagine I'll look back at it in fondness when some of the people attending are no longer with us.

I was against the guestbook from the beginning. I thought it was a waist of money. But when my friend found out im having a photobooth she said I could get a photobooth album guestbook instead. So if it goes over well I will have pictures of guest maybe signatures as well.

I totally understand where you’re coming from. I think everyone simply writing their names in an area is a bit of a moot point. I’d much rather they write their names and their wishes in the book. Not sure if you two travel often but perhaps you could get a regular map and ask people to mark where you should take your next trip? My FH and I are getting both a guest book and doing something similar to that with a globe!

I completely think the same way!! Neither of us care of a guest book so from the beginning said we aren't having one. Its just another thing that will sit in storage and take up space.

Same! We have a Polaroid camera and photo props. I put everyone's table number cards on a clothesline and added a sign to find their table number and replace it with a polaroid of themselves, and those Will Be Our Guest back!

I didn’t care about a guestbook either. We winded up having people sign cornhole boards though, since it’s something we use often.

I also don't care, like, at all. However, we are having a small cute cheap notebook just because I feel like it'd cause unnecessary confusion for traditionalists looking for a guest book.

I do not care about a guest book either! I picked up something at target in the dollar section for $5. It’s a shadow box picture frame with little wooden hearts inside of it that people write their name on and put inside. Kinda like this.

We left out mad libs during cocktail hour, and brought them with us to read during our honeymoon travels! Lots of giggles despite our jet lag 🤣

We skipped it and don’t regret. I have no need for peoples signatures. Those that wanted to actually write something meaningful did so in the card they gave us.

most of the “art” is not to my taste which is more modern and sophisticated

I wanted something different then the norm so my theme is stars & moon. (A starry night) I am all into the moon, stars, cloud & sun. I love water & just gazing into the sky at all times of day so I’m having a custom canvas made with the moon and stars so my guest can sign the stars in silver. The colors will
match my colors which will be royal blue, white & silver with a bit of navy blue for the darker part of the sky. I know I’ll keep it forever because the Artist is my brother & I have many one of a kind art pieces in my home made by him. Plus we are getting a new living room set which will be gray, navy blue with royal blue accent pieces & it will just be a perfect piece of art in the living room!! I’m super excited.
