Anyone else not get "getting ready" pictures?

I don't understand why anyone would want to have pictures taken while getting ready. My friend did that and got 50 pictures of her and the bridesmaids in their robes, barefoot with no makeup. Am I just insecure or is that a bit embarrassing 😳

Our photographer met us at the ceremony venue after hair and makeup. So we had getting "ready" photos, but they were more along the lines of putting on the dresses, fixing the veil, laughing over breakfast, that sort of thing. We loved those pictures because it brings back memories of the whole day, not just the formal stuff that happened. It captured the nervous emotions, the excitement, the anticipation, the reaction of mom and my girls seeing me all dressed up for the first time. It gives you a look at the nervousness, the happiness, the pure JOY that happens "behind the scenes." The "getting ready" pics of us having our hair and makeup done all happened on our phones - bringing the photographer to a salon at 8am was not exactly a good idea lol. But honestly, the getting ready pictures are some of my favorites.

I haven't really seen instances where they take pictures before makeup and hair. All the "getting ready" pics I've seen have been taken when hair and makeup are done already and people are hanging out in their robes, getting the bride into her dress/shoes, putting on jewelry, and "fake" putting on lipstick, etc.

I didn’t get weird posed robe pictures, but I did go for ‘getting ready’ pics but our style was basically just to have the photographer in the house with us like a fly on the wall as we hung and got ready. It was candid photos and many action shots, of me and my favorite girls and my mom hanging out morning of — full of genuine emotion and excitement. These are easily my favorite photos: my mom seeing me in my dress for the first time, and her helping me with my buttons and with my veil. My girls laughing at my cheesy jokes, one hilarious one of my girls making judge faces as I struggled to put on my shoes (not posed and not mean, they were playfully making fun of me). I’m not one who cares for the usual robe pics and don’t need 20 pics of getting my hair done, but I LIVE for the candids.

Oh yeah probably worth noting that all our photos were AFTER hair and make up!

I think they are cute. Usually the girls are laughing & talking. The getting ready outfits are usually cute too! I've seen photographers come 1-2 hours before the ceremony so most girls are already done by then anyway.

Yes, I think they're stupid and I don't understand the trend of having to wear matching outfits to drink coffee and put makeup on. NO THANK YOU.

Definitely not doing "getting ready" pics. We only have limited time with our photographer and I'd rather spend that getting great shots of us in cool places.

I don't plan on it... it's a little too "personal" in my opinion. Maybe a few candids when we're done, but not while we're actually getting ready.

We're planning on taking photos of the veil getting fixed in place, and jewelry being put on. But that's about it. The photographer wants to get pictures of the dress and shoes, which is fine, but we'll skip from that to me fully dressed.
