anyone else experience the competitive brides?

Katie- I'm dealing with the exact opposite. A friend of mine got engaged after me but set her date a month before mine and all of our same friends will be at the wedding which is causing a financial burden on everyone. After telling her which venue I was using she TOOK my EXACT venue and color theme. Oh and to add onto it she made us buy or bridesmaid dress then once I showed her mine she made all her bridesmaids take them back and buy a dress similar to mine. Now I keep my mouth closed. It's not about one upping it's about see you vision at your wedding and not someone elses. LOL

No offense, but that chick will be the first in the group to be divorced. If you look at your wedding as an excuse to be competitive with your friends/family, etc. then you really don't have the mindset at all to even be considering the HUGE step of marriage.

Thank you guys! i really am rying with her but feel pretty let down because i am trying to do the oppsite of steal!! i think its so much fun to plan and bounce ideas off someone especially since we have way different tastes, budgets, colors, wedding type. There is no way anything is similar between ours except the fact that on a certain date we will both be marrying our best friends in front of people, then having a reception after with food, a dj and someone will take pictures LOL its crazy how some people get and i am so TYPE A over everything else in my life, but this wedding planning i am way more easy going.

WIth the people describing the girls they know that stole ideas.. AH i would be mad too! and i am trying to convey to her that its not my intention at all to do that! I get why people are so closed-mouth about details but i think it is rude to be so short with me for no reason.

ALso, i went out of my way to let her know taht there was a bridal show coming up that she may want to attend so that way she could get some ideas (this was like in dec) and all i got was an ok. even though she had forgot about it and ended up booking alot of it from there.

I never thought I would be one of those brides until it happened to me! My FH and I had been engaged for a year and were well into our wedding planning when one of my close friends got engaged. I thought it would be no big deal until they set their date 2 weeks before ours. Suddenly, they have the same color scheme, theme, and many of the same vendors I was livid when I got the invitations that looked almost exactly like mine!! And now everyone thinks I"m copying HER because her wedding is before mine. SO annoying!

I got engaged 2 weeks after a classmate and she literally told me I'm "not allowed to get married during the same year as her" so I told her she was a psychotic. So clearly we are not on good terms anymore lol
