Anyone doing a photo collage?

Ester C, on August 26, 2011 at 11:12 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 16

We want to do one instead of a slide show. Pics of us as babies, growing up, our civil ceremony up until now. I want to put them on some sort of picture board on an easel. But I need some ideas of how to do it besides just sticking pictures on poster board!

I am using a memo board for my seating but I could totally see it working for something like what you want to do! I got a nice one at Hobby Lobby-- maybe you can find something with your colors! Something like this... (only with a nicer background-- this was the first one I found on google, lol)

You can set it up against a wall on a table or you can put it on an easel which is what I plan to do. Just a thought!

My wedding colors are pink and black so I purchased a black tri-fold picture board and put pictures of me growing up on one side, him on the other, and us together in the middle with our names on top. I used rubber cement as the adhesive because it is acid free so it is safe for your photos and it peels right off when you are done!

I did one of my bridal photos. I ordered like a 20x30 collage from shutterfly, that way i didnt have to worry about photos falling out of place, and got a poster frame from walmart. It was a big hit.

For our engagement party, Fh and I, took a pic we liked of the beach and blew it up on a canvas board, and then we spent time together going through our special box full of mementos of our time together and our favorite pictures. It was a very fun activity to do. Then we picked out quotes we both liked or quotes that went well with a particular picture, and put them all over the board. Some tilted, some overlapping, but not messy.

i tried several times to post a pic from my phone and it did not work, otherwise I'd show you.....

We displayed it at our party, and everyone enjoyed seeing the pics. We also have a special photo album we made that started from the begining of our relationship, and passed it around for everyone.

@Kentucky - A tri fold board is a great idea and thanks for the tip on the rubber cement. I knew I was going to have to find some special tape or glue so as not to make the picture look "wavey".

@Paris- I'll have to check out shutterfly. Love the idea of having the collage done for me.

@Jaclyn - Thanks for the idea on the quotes. Think I'll look into some of those really nice stickers used for scrapbooking.

I bought big Antique Gold picture frames and did one of me and one of him. I am putting them on fancier easels and putting them on the table where they get their table numbers.

I wanted to do a dvd on the tv screens during dinner but the venue wanted to charge me $300 to just play it.

@amber - those are cool ideas. I love the one with the pictures hanging on the ribbon. I'll have to keep that in mind to see if our venue has someplace to hang something like that.

@FABO - It is expensive. That's why we are going for the picture collage instead.

@Karlyn - thanks. Now I have a visual of what it'll look like if I use the tri-fold.

Really great ideas in here ladies. I especially like the tri-fold one with the pictures. At our venue there is a large stone fireplace and I think this will make a great mantle piece.
