Anyone doing a Kings Table?

KatnMike, on June 22, 2017 at 7:46 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

Is anyone doing a kings table? My bridal party has two couples so we wanted to be able to have everyone with us including their date so thought of doing a kings table. If anyone has done one, would you recommend it?

We are doing one. I can't answer to if I'd recommend it or not yet, but I personally like it better than the "traditional" head table.

How many do you have in your wedding Party? I have 12 not including the parents. Are you including them at your table also? @APD

We have 6 in our WP. The parents will have their own table and I have my friends husband that will be sitting with us as well. So there will be 9 total.

Oh! Thank you @OGAlecia. We're not having a large bridal party. Just 2 on each side, which table would you suggest we use?

We had Me & DH, on my side was my MOH & His date, and on his side was BM & his date. We seated my bridesmaid with her date at one of the tables with some friends. We could only have a max of 6 at our table.

We had lots of fun - loved having my best friend next to me, and his date was a riot (I had never met her before).

We were planning on a king's table with our families since we're not having a bp. When my planner and I walked our space again yesterday, we determined we didn't have enough room. So it's back to the sweetheart table...kinda bummed.

We did one, sat 24 people. I didn't want to separate couples and families that were in the wedding party.

Never even knew about that option until I discovered this place. One of the big reasons I came to the forum was to make sure proper etiquette was covered.

My only concern with a kings table is some of the people sitting at it will have their backs to the other guests. Personally that would make me uncomfortable, because I'd be blocking their view of the couple or concerned that I could be. Otherwise I think it's a pretty neat idea!

What's the difference in a kings table and a head table?

Ohh thank you for the clarification @OG. @OP, I am doing a sweetheart table but then there will also be a "kings table" of sorts with everyone else who would belong there.

We also did a kings table and I think it worked out well for everyone.. We had 20 at ours. We each had 7 attendants (1 was his dad though, so he sat at groom family table right next to head table) plus us and significant others. Thankfully quite a few of our attendants are married/dating each other- so there were only a handful of non-bp people to add.

We did not have a huge wedding--so we did a large kings table right down the middle of the reception. And 4 round tables on each side of it. It made things feel pretty intimate and like everyone was together.

I'd highly recommend. To me the next best option is a sweetheart table. I'm an all or none person though.

We are doing it! Our venue is small and couldn't fit all our wedding party in one table so we decided to let everyone sit with their significant others, while FH and I sit with our Moh & BM and their dates

We did a sweetheart table because a Kings table would have been ginormous for us

I learned something new today!! Smiley smile lol I like that idea. So it would be Myself, FH, MOh with her Fiance and Baby, then Bride's Maid and Her Family. Then Best Man, Groomsmen, plus their families.. I may like the sweetheart table better, but then i feel like we're set apart, excluded. Smiley sad

My best friend did this and it was fabulous. ETA: my date didnt know anyone else there but the B&G and I was MoH so it would have been awkward for him otherwise

Yes, we did a king's table down the middle of the room. I loved it. It's so much better for conversation than a traditional head table where people are only sitting on one side (I really dislike those). And I loved being able to decorate it elaborately with a floral and candle tablescape.

Examples. They are also called "harvest tables".
