Anyone DIY crystal headband?

JennaKate, on August 28, 2011 at 12:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

Hi ladies.

I'm looking for info on how to make my own crystal headband similar to the one below. Has anyone made something like this?? Any tips? Where did you get supplies??

Thanks!

No. But I've seen lots of them on etsy. Check out ebay also.

The ones on Etsy are too expensive and not exactly what I want... That's why I'm trying to make one myself.

Well, I would create an applique in the right shape by sewing and gluing the beads/stones onto fabric, then mount the whole thing onto a metal headband or on a ribbon to tie at the nape of your neck. Do you know how to sew beads on the fabric? It's easy to learn, but it takes some practice. If you have a local bead store, they can probably show you, but plan for a bit of a learning curve. Without seeing the headband up close, I don't know just what you would need, but check out www.firemountaingems.com for beads and rhinestones.

Yea that's what I thought too. But then I bought all of these crystals and crap from Michael's and it ended up being $30. In the end I didn't know what to do with them! If you have better luck, please let me know!

Yeah I just asked my sister her advice, and she thinks it's probably more work than it's worth at this point. I think I'm going to pick up a small pack at JoAnns and see how I do with that, then go from there!
