Any suggestions for walking down a dirt-path "aisle" in the forest with a train?

Sally, on July 19, 2010 at 10:25 PM Posted in Planning 1 13

I am wearing a Maggie SaBelle at a forest wedding! The "aisle" will be the dirt trail. Since I do not want to get the gown all dirty (because the dirt will show when I bustle it for the reception), I am wondering how to walk down the trail with the bit of train it has.... any suggestions??

Do an aisle runner. Or, use pages. Pages are young children (around 4ish would probably be good), who carry your train behind you. If you have a few little guys, I think that's your best bet

We have many different aisle runner options and we could customize something to fit your theme. www.aislesbydesign.net

Definitely some type of aisle runner.

I must say, a very fancy dress for a forest wedding. It is very pretty. Not something I would expect in a forest setting.

What about attaching (pinning) a piece of disposable fabric to the underside of the dress that would act as a buffer between the dirt and your dress, then when you're ready to bustle, just remove it. That way, you don't have to worry about trying to stay on a runner or having little ones carry your dress around...

Ooooh, Dory, that is BRILLIANT! I think that will work! And, Kathy, I know my dress is pretty fancy for the forest! But, the forest is the Redwood forest, where the Emerald Forest is, and the scale is HUGE, and when you're in there, you know what a field mouse feels like because all the people look very tiny. I saw pics of a gal in a ball gown in this forest and I thought the juxtaposition was incredible. It feels like a fairy tale land in there... so, I decided to just go for it. Smiley smile

Would you consider bustling it up instead of having the train down? That is what I am doing. I couldn't use an aisle runner on the grass without it being hard to walk on.

Bustling it up is definitely an option for me... So, Kris, you're just going to forego the train altogether? That makes sense...

Danielle, I like the idea of pages but there are no children coming Smiley sad Everyone left them at home. And, I forgot to mention we're not allowed to bring runners in to the forest. Not even chairs can we bring.

Love the extra material pinned under the train.. I would extend it a bit with maybe some lace so that you wont tell its just an extra piece under there and you can have it just a bit longer than the train to really help protect it..

I think I'll have to pin extra material underneath for mine as well - it seems like the safest option. My train won't be long, but I'll be traipsing through an area know for duck poo!! :X The ballgown style in the forest looks really incredible. Your photos will be stunning.
