Any Sorority Traditions?

The only thing my sorority does is a candle passing ceremony when someone gets engaged or is pregnant. We pass a lit candle around in a circle, you blew it out if its for you then everyone congratulates you lol

I didn't do anything to honor my sorority. I would tell you to do a few things- but keep it minimal. There was an episode of Four Weddings where a sorority sister made the wedding all about the sorority. It was very awkward for the other guests- they didn't understand the traditions, and were left out of many of the festivities.

I'd limit it to one or two small things.

I only have one of my Soros in my bridal party. So we may not stroll. FH's entire party are frat brothers. I don't mind them serenading me as long as they are in tune.

I understand Meghan comment and concern. I attended an AKA's wedding this summer and of course her colors were pink and green. She had her sister to serenade her and they strolled. Then she pointed to me and a few other Deltas to stroll too. I felt like I was on the yard all over again.

We have something like @Honey B's tradition. i did this to announce my engagement to all my sisters.

5/6 of my bridesmaids are my sorority sisters too. i dont think we are doing anything special at the wedding itself.. but one tradition is to play Journey's Dont Stop Believing as the last song of the night which i will be doing! my girls will love it!

3/4 of my bridesmaids are bridesmaids. We attach our pin to our bouquet (like on the fabric part that wraps around) so that we are wearing letters when we walk down the aisle.

Kristen- That's a cute idea ... only one of my BMs is a sorority sister (we were friends first && joined together) and not many of my other sisters can attend due to our wedding being the same day as my college's May graduation date ... I might use my pin on my bouquet also.

I like that idea!! i think i will do that too... now i just have to dig up my pin!

My husband is a Sigma so he put on a small step show and one stroll for me and the guest (cause I've never seen him step in the 2 years we've been together) and they were suppose to do the hymm, but forgot. it was nice, sweet, and the people really enjoyed it.

I come from a very eclectic group of girls, so every event that is celebrated - be it initiation, weddings, dances, homecoming, birthdays - is accompanied by the Rocky Horror Picture Show Time Warp. It is quite a blast to have 50+ people falling to the floor!

I have a bit of a sore spot for sororities. I tried so hard to get into one freshman year of college....but because I didn't have any connections it was pretty much pointless. It was a heartbreaking week for me, I just wanted to be involved in something besides just classes and was hoping to make a bunch of new friends. So ya....No sororites for me...But one of my bridesmaids is one of my college suitemates.

The only thing that my sorority does at weddings are the serenade and stroll . Also, for all of my sorors that will be present they will have a white rose on.

Oooo. I was so focused on how to recognize reception tables that my sorors are sitting at that I completely forgot I could do a white rose corsage for them too! Z-Phi!
