Any RNs that wear their ring to work?

Alicia v., on January 26, 2017 at 5:22 PM Posted in Married Life 0 66

Wondering if any other nurses out there wear their engagement ring to work or just their wedding band? I'm getting married in march but it hurts my FHs feelings when I don't wear the engagement ring... I just don't like the thought of it being around all the muck at work.

I clip mine on a carabiner and then clip that to my bra. I only take mine off when I'm scrubbing into the O.R.

I wear mines for the same reason, my fiance feels some way about it. I just double glove at all times. As for my coworkers, they are split about 50/50 on wearing it. One girl wears hers on a chain around her neck while at work and then puts it on when leaving. Others have a cheap band that they wear. Hope this helps!

I'm not a nurse, but I work at a restaurant and my ring always got really nasty so I bought a QALO ring to wear at work. I know people that work at the hospital and they have these rings too. I really like mine, its better than my ring being nasty all the time.

I wear mine but I purposely picked a lower setting to help keep it from getting caught on gloves. I take my ring in frequently to get it cleaned.

I am not a nurse, but a science teacher. On dirty lab days I wear a silicon band. They are great and can be thrown in the dishwasher if you are overly concerned

I wear mine but I purposely had diamond set lower. Most of the nurses where I work wear theirs. A couple of the older nurses who have been married 20+ years wear just a plain band

I'm an occupational therapist and work at hospitals - we all wear our rings, and most nurses I see wear theirs. I've never seen anyone wearing a silicone or similar ring at work. (I became a stalker of wedding/engagement rings when I first got engaged and would be working... I felt like I was going to damage it or ruin something by wearing it.)

I bought a silicone ring but found that it slipped off easily when wet and the underside of the ring kept too much moisture in and broke down my skin

I wear a simple old stainless steel band that's like a size too big

Several companies make silicone rings! Qalo is an example. If you had one you wouldn't have to worry about hurt feelings or damaging your band.

I'm a CNA and I take mine off at work and put it right back on after. But I do sometimes forget to take it off.

I'm in ultrasound, so I don't deal with quite the same things you do, but I wear mine. I figure if I'm going to have it, I'm going to wear it. I will clean it and make sure I take care of it, but what's the point of even having one if I don't wear it all the time.

I wear mine. Sometimes I'll twist it to the side under my gloves so it doesn't get caught.

I'm an ER nurse and don't wear my e-ring. I did when I first got engaged but stopped because setting is high and would get caught when putting gloves.

At first FH was disappointed when I stopped wearing it but explained my rationale. However, once we're married, I will wear wedding band.

I've noticed less married coworkers wear full set.
