Any pregnant bridesmaids? Please help with mine

Jessica, on February 23, 2017 at 11:32 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Hello,

One of my bridesmaids is pregnant and due a couple of weeks after my wedding. We are having issues getting a dress for her and I'm hoping for some advice from someone who has experienced this!

My girls are all in Bill Levkoff chiffon, floor length, empire waist dresses. My pregnant bridesmaid is insisting that the only dress that will work for her is 774, but I hate the ruffles on it and don't want them in strapless dresses. I feel like any empire waist dress should work for her with alterations. But I also don't want to be awful to her since I have no idea what it's like to be pregnant. Does anyone have any experience with what dresses will work or how to make them work? Thanks!

I would just let her wear what she is comfortable with, she knows her own body. As long as its the same color and material it will look great. In my opinion it doesn't matter that the style is different because honestly at 8 months pregnant she is going to look different anyway.

I agree with MNBride. I'd let her wear whatever as long as it's somewhat similar with the fabric and color. You want your girls to be comfortable in their dresses and it's not worth the frustration to go back and forth about it.

My sister (who will be 8 months pregnant at our wedding) is wearing a dress from Azazie. They have a ton of colors, so probably you could find something very similar to the Bill Levkoff ones.

Let her wear what she feels comfortable wearing.

I have the same situation with a bridesmaid who will be 8 months pregnant at the time of my wedding. We picked out a dress in the same color and I let it go at that. I say let your pregnant bridesmaid wear what she is comfortable in. Straps can always be added to a strapless dress if you don't want her in strapless. It will be a huge effort for her to even be at your wedding at 8 months pregnant, so it's not worth the fight or frustration over something as simple as a dress. Wedding drama happens, so save yourself the drama with your bridesmaid.

Azazie actually has maternity dresses. What is your color? If it's a simple one, you could probably let her get a dress from there!

My MOH will be almost 8 months pregnant at mine. My girls are all picking dresses from Azazie though so she's getting the maternity dress that works for her in the right color and fabric and then going to have it hemmed shorter since my girls are wearing knee length but the dress she likes is tea length.

It's Bill Levkoff's petal pink. I think I'd rather just let her have this one knowing the colour will be exactly the same than risking the colour being off with another designer. I tried the dresses on myself and don't see the difference in this one versus the few that I have suggested for her, but you guys are right that it is probably not worth the battle. Adding straps is a good idea.

Let her wear her own dress. Please don't make a woman who is 8-9 months pregnant match the rest of your WP.

Those are very small ruffles anyway, it'll be fine.

What style number is your other girls wearing... I just looked up the 774 and it looks gorgeous and I can see why she would be so comfortable in it.

I had two pregnant bridesmaids and went with Bill Levkoff dresses. The dress I picked for my BM had a cinched waist so the girls just got another style that was a high empire waistline. They were able to get it in the same color as well and even though they weren't from the same dye lot they all matched flawlessly. Just go on Bill's site and search his dresses. There are options that work for pregnant women (my girls were six and seven months pregnant at the time and just purchased bigger dresses and had them altered). Good luck!!

Also, I just looked at Bill's website - would 482 work? And I looked at 774 and think it's a really cute dress. The ruffles aren't that terrible!
