Any other sororities with wedding traditions?

So I was speaking with some of my sorority sisters and they reminded me that there's a tradition in our sorority (Chi Omega) where the sisters surround the bride, holding hands, and sing a particular song and sort of "send her off" into married life. It got me thinking, are there any other...

It got me thinking, are there any other sororities with wedding traditions? I'm assuming there probably are!

These are so interesting! I was in Gamma Phi, but had never heard of the teapot thing. I texted my little after I read it and she got a kick out of that!

@SFB I'll be disappointed if she doesn't get you one now!

Some things are definitely chapter specific. I once went to a convention for Chi O only to discover that my chapter sang shades (the song used at weddings) to a different tune than others!

@OGA My chapter also calls it candlelight! All the groups at my school are local though so not entirely comparable

Alpha Phi here! We have a candle pass to announce pinnings and engagements, but not much else in terms of wedding traditions. Love hearing other sorority traditions!

These are so cute and sweet. It makes me really regret not joining a sorority in college!

It's interesting to see how much has changed.

When I was in college, we had tons of candlepasses because everybody was getting engaged.

My sister, who just graduated from college, said she doesn't know ANYONE who is engaged. I even asked my cousin who is a year older than my sister, if she thought her and her BF of 3 years were going to get married someday, and her response was "omg, we're too young to think about that".

It's weird, no? I went to so many weddings during and right after college.

I'm one of the last people I know to get married and I'm "only" 29! Everyone I know is married with children. I have several friends my age with 3 kids already.

Now, everyone getting married in the early-mid 20s is considered a "young bride"

Just speaking for my area and the university I went to Smiley smile Not generalizing here..

I think there were maybe 2/3 girls who got engaged whilst I was an active. I'm 23 and get told I'm too young a lot! I'll be 25 by the time I'm actually getting married though and people seem to think that that is the magic number and they are suddenly fine with it!
