Any One Else or am i just a Sociopath?

Does anyone else get excited when you get a NO RSVP from the random guests? Every No we receive I have just said "whew...one less awkward interaction" and I happily delete them from the Guest Excel sheet. Anyone else or just me?

Yes! The coworkers and obligated distance family were cut due to covid guidelines reducing us to 50. I was happy when I got no’s, because it saved us from one more awkward “thanks but we have to cancel our invite” conversation. And saved a ton on catering and alcohol.

We received 3 RSVP with declines for 10 one weekend we were away. We split a beer at 7 am after bringing in 4 days mail, to celebrate. We had assumed two of the managing partners of hubby's job of 6 months would come, with wives, because their response to his request for time off was to declare that they will be happy to come, and that both wives love weddings. And 2 sisters and one sister in law who were pregnant did not want to travel, wonderful because the 2 wives and one husband of these 3 sibs hubby loves but is not close to, are totally obnoxious and childish. He couldn't not invite 3 of his 12 sibs whom he gets on with because of spouses, and 3 7-8 month pregnancies made it possible. The only RSVP with declines were the Right ones. Yay .

This post now hits me right in the feels, as the table of 6 cousins we were told we had to invite ("but they won't come, it's so far and they haven't seen you!"...nope) is stressing me out. We aren't aligned with them on the existence of covid and other ideological differences - I'm sitting here wondering why the heck they want to come anyway since they wouldn't like us as people. I guess an open bar will bring out all kinds 😜
I hope all of us make it through our weddings, even with some not so welcome guests - this room doesn't have enough corners sometimes. 🤦🏻‍♀️

GIRL YES!!! I do too. I am so not a social butterfly and if it was up to me we wouldn't have invited anyone but family and our super close friends.

I completely understand that! We had some obligatory invites and when I got they declined I was thrilled

Girl I feel ya! We came up with our guest list before Covid and sent out save-the-dates when it seemed like it was going away. These are all people we would typically love to celebrate with, but seeing how so many weddings have had to downsize has put things in a new perspective and made us realize who are “must haves” are. Emotionally I’m glad that we haven’t had to cut the list and are still able to invite everyone to at least let them know we treasure them, but logically I understand that many won’t be comfortable attending and am thankful that it will lead to a smaller crowd!
