My fiance and I are both over 40, we have two homes we're getting ready to sell as we've bought "our" new home. We already have most things we need. Not really registering for a lot of "stuff", just a few things that need an upgrade. But could sure use help toward getting our two houses on the market (painting, carpet, landscaping, etc.) We don't want gift cards to home depot or lowe's as we're shopping those items from other vendors. Has anyone used any of the "cash" gift registries like "deposit a gift"? Comments, thoughts, experiences? Did your guests actually use it? Any service better than another?

We've really loved our experience with depositagift.com -- super simple to use site, amazing customer service, prettiest interface.

In my culture, it's already cordial to give check or cash as gift at the wedding. The guests usually brings it to the reception in a sealed card or a red envelope and places the card in a gift box. However, I do understand that there are guests who are not familiar with the culture and may think that asking for money may be rude and others may be reluctant to bring cash to the reception.

I wasn't planning to do a registry and if someone asked, it would be by word of mouth. However, one of my MOH asked me about it what would be best. I couldn't give her an answer (even thought I had this conversation with her before I got engaged). So I'm also thinking of a online gift registry. There are too many to choose from, which means i'll have to register which one works best for my FC and I.

So I guess for me if the bride and groom says that they rather receive monetary gifts instead of receiving gifts is not rude. BUT, it is rude to add that in your invitation or website.

The best cash gift registry we found was http://bowlofcherries.com. We researched them all for user friendliness, customer support and fees. This site is awesome.

What makes it super great is how you can keep your cash gift registry even after the wedding for bridal showers, birthdays or any other event. We posted pictures of our honeymoon and our first born. You get a live website with tabs, photos, wish lists and blog. Most of the sites we looked at had just a single page with old school templates. Bowl of Cherries has lots of current custom designer templates to design your wedding cash gift registry.

Just gone through all the posts here and as you all have mentioned most of the registries are very nice . I personally found our wishing well , one of the nicest cash registry. Really their services are very nice and especially the wedding and honeymoon registry .Their registry is safe and secure and also provided me great benefits of saving time and money.

    Hello ladies,

Setting up a cash wedding registry is a personal decision between the couple. If they think this is the best option for them, then they shouldn´t pay attention to people that say it´s tacky or whatever, besides at the end of the day it´s their big day. I recommend you check our profile out and if you decide to go for it and want to learn more info about Zankyou cash wedding registry, feel free to contact us.

    Have a lovely day ladies!

CHEAPEST WAY to do this is Paypal. Come on guys, paypal charges lower rates than the other sites people mentioned on this site. I work for a bank, and not paypal, but we are choosing to do this because everyone knows the name "Paypal" and the processing fees are lower!

    Good Luck!

We are another option! We have a really personal, ad-free design that let's you register for one big item, like your honeymoon, or a charity, home remodel... and then your guests and give you money towards it. Really easy to create a profile and you can upload a video or a picture. We try to make it all about you and your FI! www.gftgthr.com

We decided to go with www.mybridalbank.com for our cash registry and so far it has been excellent! They even sent us registry inserts free to send with our wedding invitations if we wanted (we put them in a few of ours). Cash is the only thing this website offers so it was really easy to set up. We are doing our wedding overseas just with our families so it was easiest to do a cash registry. They charge 5% to the person giving the gift, which doesn't bother me a whole lot since that is still cheaper than sales tax or shipping a gift somewhere!
