Any Disney brides? How accurate was their wedding cost estimator?

Liss, on November 15, 2017 at 12:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Hi there, this is my first post, but I have been lurking for a while. My FH and I got engaged in September and have only just started talking about where we want to plan our wedding. My dream is Disney World and I have used their wedding cost estimator to get an idea of what kind of budget we would need, but I am wondering how close that is to the actual number people have spent. If anyone has a Disney wedding, did you find the estimator was a good way to know how much it was going to cost?

Depends on what you want and which of their ceremony/reception locations you want. We looked at Disney, but opted to go elsewhere because there was not a reception space we fell in love with. We did do venue tours though and they went over some items with us. If you plan to do anything in park they have to transport everyone so you need to rent a large bus [I think we saw one and it was a coach bus] and generally smaller vehicles for elderly folks [for more flexibility]. Cinderella Carriage ran $3000 when we looked.

Thanks for the response. I wasn't aware that they even did venue tours prior to booking with them. We aren't local to Disney, but I can't say I'd mind a trip!

You're most welcome. We weren't local but it was a lot of fun, if you can do it I highly recommend it! I'm not sure what they called it venue tours or site visits, but they normally take you to about 3 locations I believe. Our consultant was awesome and took us to 6 I believe [she had extra time and we were super quick]. We did have a courtesy hold [no deposit] on a ceremony location for a date & time.

I am going to have to talk to FH about this and see if we can do it! Did you have to wait until 12 months out from when you wanted to get married?

Yes, I believe we may have started talking with them a week or two before 12 months, but we were about 10 months out from our original date when we visited. If I remember correctly you can only request a courtesy hold 12 months in advance [certain days, times, and specialty items, ex. the Cinderella carriage, will fill fast]. They may have changed their policies since, we worked with them from March to May of 2016 to plan for a April 2017 wedding. I'm not sure if looking at the venues required a hold.
