Any body not doing Save the Date?

At this point we have decided to not do save the date. But some times I feel as though I am the only bride not doing them. Any body else decide to not do save the dates?

I did them for my first wedding and regret it. We ended up having to make changes in the guest list (bad!) and basically didn't invite half of those who received a save the date. Talk about awkward (and extremely rude on our part).

This time around we're keeping things super small and will be doing "save the dates" either by word of mouth or electronically. Our guest list will be 22 people (the venue only allows for 25 max) so it shouldn't be too hard to let everyone know. It is also a destination wedding.

I did, because our wedding is on a Friday. However some of my family members still missed the fact!

I also thought that behind the scenes sending STDs would help me gauge early on who might be coming, but in fact it made things more difficult because it locked us into a preliminary guest list that we couldn't make many changes to later. (My FH lost his job recently and we have been trying to shave the guest list down as politely as possible, but pretty much anyone who got a save the date cannot be uninvited, so... yeah)

I wasn't going to do them until I realized how popular my wedding date is.

Hehe...my "save the dates" were emails/Facebook messages that went something like this; "Hey ___! I hope you're doing well. I am getting married in August (the 16th) and would love to send you an invitation! What is your address? Thanks! Talk to you soon."

I'm not either. Just posted on Facebook the date. And sending out invites like 5 months before. Figure that's enough time.

We aren't doing them. We didn't want to spend the money!

We kinda did. We put out a FB event before we mailed invitations.

We skipped. All out of towners/family know the date already.

We aren't doing them. Our TAT from engagement to wedding is only 9 months. We don't have our engagement photography shoot until the beginning of Nov so I've let the out of town people know the date. Once I get our e-photos back, I'll finish our site and officially let people know and refer them to the site. I do also plan on sending a photo out with the invite.

I want to send them out just because our wedding requires guests to travel and book flights. I feel like a save the date gives them official "go ahead" to book flights and request time off and stuff like that. I also think it's a fun way to use our engagement pictures Smiley smile
