Any blessings?

Many posts on here are filled with sadness and disappointments about weddings not being a "dream wedding" because of the COVID pandemic. Did any of you have any positive things happen to you, from the pandemic, related to your wedding or wedding planning? If so, what were they?

This is kind of a reach but I’m counting it...I got furloughed from job back in March when all of this started. I was devastated and very concerned about how we were going to make wedding payments. I looked all summer for jobs and got nothing. Well, I got a call back from my old job saying I could come back, but I would have a ton of extra responsibilities added, I wouldn’t be able to work from home like everyone else, and I would receive no pay raise for this. So I kept looking and landed a job that came with a HUGE raise. The first thing I thought was that this is such a blessing for my FH and I because we are paying for our wedding with little help and this job is just what we needed to make us feel more secure with our wedding. So now I’m back in the excited, planning mood because I know now that we will be able to make the payments we have left and it won’t break the bank.

That isn’t a reach at all. Your story shows that sometimes those things that seem so bad at the time (the furlough and subsequent offer from the old job) are really the mechanisms used to push us into something much better — even when we can’t see it at the time. 😊❤️

Our day was not perfect logistically or plan wise but it was perfect for us because we scaled back and had the intimate wedding we truly wanted. I didn't want a ton of people I dont/barely know who are just there to support my parents. We were able to spend more on an amazing mini-moon as well due to pay increases and scaling back.

This post is a breath of fresh air...
We spent 10 months vigorously planning an international destination wedding for May 2, 2020. At the end of March, after receiving lots of texts from guests...we had over 50 guests booked...and doing some research on the depth of what this pandemic was turning out to be, we cancelled. We were devastated. The oncologist told his mother she had until maybe the end of summer to live, if she is lucky. I also had to cancel my bachelorette vacation which I paid for and was supposed to be reimbursed which never happened, so I have $3,000 in travel vouchers from that... I spent 2 hours fighting for every single guest to receive their full refund back in original form of payment and they received it by mid-April. Long story short, we realized what was important to us in the meantime... We ended up getting married in a garden at a castle with 20 guests. His mother made it...his sister and brother could not because we opted for child-free...but we had the most magical day. Words truly cannot describe. The scenery of the castle and mountains, intimate wedding, perfect weather, I could go on. I hope for the best for all couples in this difficult time and that they figure out the true meaning of marriage and exactly what they want in their wedding so no regrets happen! 🤍🤍🤍
